B. Provide testing results and procedures that have been certified by Cedar Knolls Acoustical Labs,

or other accredited independent testing laboratories. Thickness of test samples must be determined and reported by acoustical laboratory. Nominal thicknesses are not acceptable unless peak thicknesses are also reported. Edges of acoustical test samples must be sealed with a wood or metal frame. Taping of edges is unacceptable. 1. NRC not less than 0.60 at 1 inch thickness and coefficient not less than 0.35, (+ or – 0.01),

at 250 Hz. Conduct testing on solid backing with no air gap and sealed edges. Taping of edges is unacceptable.

C. Installer: licensed by manufacturer. D. Control Sample: Prior to installation of final coat, apply an area of 50 sq. ft. in presence of Architect,

for approval of finish texture, as selected from samples. 1.03 Submittals

A. Submit manufacturer’s installation instructions, test data substantiating compliance with quality assurance.

B. Submit 12-inch square sample of sprayed on insulation showing texture variations for approval. Resubmit as required until approved. All samples must be certified by manufacturer that they are representative of the texture, which was acoustically tested in supporting acoustical test reports.

C. Submit test reports from all suppliers showing material to be 100% free of asbestos, mineral fibers, polystyrene and cellulose.

D. Submit certification of applicator licensing. E. Submit acoustical test data for specified finish.

1.04 Material Handling

A. Keep material dry until ready for use. 1.05 Warranty

Warranty: Provide manufacturer's written warranty in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace material that fails in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period 5 years (5) years. Manufacturer may not disclaim any implied warranty such as merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Both the expressed and implied terms of the warranty shall be read together for the benefit of the City.

PART 2: PRODUCTS 2.01 Materials

A. Materials shall be Acoustement 40 manufactured by Pyrok, Inc., Mamaroneck, N.Y. (914) 777-7070, or approved equal.

B. Integral Color shall be s selected by the Architect. C. Texture shall be semi-smooth trowelled finish. D. Thickness shall be 1”. E. 1 ½” x 2” galv trim along bottom edge

PART 3: EXECUTION 3.01 Inspection and Preparation

A. Examine all substrate and conditions. B. Assure substrate is free of oil, grease, dirt, paint, or other matter which would impair bond or install

metal lath as recommended by the manufacturer. C. Do not proceed until said substrate and conditions are acceptable. D. Prepare substrate by filling voids and cracks and offsets, remove projections that result in

telegraphing presence of imperfections. E. Prime substrate with primer or bonding agent as recommended by the manufacturer. F. Do not apply insulation material when temperature is below 44 degrees F (ambient), or substrate

is below 40 degrees F. G. Mask all adjoining surfaces in order to minimize damage from overspray. H. Provide ventilation if required, and avoid excess drying rates. I. Provide tarps or temporary enclosures as necessary to confine operations. J. Perform all patching and repairing of insulation required to be done due to cutting, etc., by other

trades. 3.02 Application

A. Apply in accordance with manufacturers printed instructions using any rotary stator plastering pump or other spray equipment approved by the manufacturer.

B. Install to thickness indicated or thickness required to achieve NRC specified. C. Ensure that texture and color are all as per control sample. 3.03 Cleaning And Patching A. Remove overspray and fall out material immediately upon completion of the Work in each area.

Clean surfaces to remove evidence of soiling. Repair or replace damaged Work surfaces to acceptable conditions.

B. Coordinate Work with other Work, to minimize possibility of damage to insulation resulting from performance of subsequent Work. As other units of Work are completed in each area, patch

1. Comply with manufacturer’s written instructions for installation of lockers and bases. Install plumb and square.

2. Anchor locker units to wall through the locker back with suitable anchor devices for the substrate. 3. Anchor locker units to floor [base for island applications] with hardware furnished by manufacturer. 4. Through-bolt adjoining locker units together to provide rigid installation. 5. Install accessories, number plates, and end panels. 6. Adjust doors and latches to operate easily without binding. Verify that integral locking devices

operate properly. 7. Comply with manufacturer's written instructions for cleaning and protection of lockers. Use

materials and methods which comply with Green Seal Environmental Standard GS-42. 8. Clean interior and exposed exterior surfaces and polish stainless-steel and nonferrousmetal

substrate anchorages, installation tolerances, and other conditions affecting installation and performance of healthcare equipment. Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

B. Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

I would like to respectfully request your kind consideration of Sika Sarnafil's 80 mil minimum thicknessfully adhered PVC roof system on the Elk Grove Animal Shelter located in Elk Grove, CA.  Our Sarnafil G410 membrane is equal to the project requirements, as depicted in the Division 7 Specifications.

Ron with Grass Tex writing to ask you to allow me to submit an alternate to the Synlawn fake grass turf that is currently specified at the Iron Rock Union Park project? We have a product that would be equal to or better than the Synlawn product and would cost less. We are America’s largest manufacturer of synthetic turf with factory floor space of over 300,000sf. We have been in business continuously since 1976. I will submit our product in a side by side comparison to you if you are open to this.

Can you tell me who the CM is on the Elk Grove Animal Shelter project?

Unico Engineering, Inc. will be the City’s construction management team for the Elk Grove Animal Shelter.  

A subcontractor contacted us regarding the stainless steel countertop.  They cannot find it in the specifications.  Can you please provide the specifications for the stainless steel countertop?

All stainless steel shall be 16 gauge #304.  All Stainless Steel Countertops shall have a 4”backsplash and 4” side return where applicable.

I would like to submit a RFI concerning the construction plans and specifications.  But, the specs are not clear whether to submit to you or the website.  I’ve attached a request from one of our systems providers concerning the Fire Alarm System (see attached).  Basically, there is some confusion between the plans and specs.  The specs call for the Fire Alarm System to be  Edwards (EST), Notifier, Firelite, Gamewell (FCI), or approved equal.  The equipment schedule, on the plans (Sheet E8.50), calls out Edwards (EST).  The question is; must we use the plans and provide only Edwards (EST) or would a Notifier system, per specifications, be acceptable.

Please let me know if I need to submit this to the website.  Since the specifications state for information pertaining to the construction plans and specifications, contact you; I felt that this falls into this category.

Please provide a ceiling tile product.  Finish schedule and spec only give regular and washable as requirements and various tiles meet those.

Specific ceiling tiles were identified in Addendum #1.

Finish schedule A9.00 ceilings call for WB‐1 stainable smooth T&G wood in Lobby.  RCP calls for metal structure steel framing.  Elevation A8.00 calls for wood look metal soffit panel spec section 095100 which does not exist.  Please clarify what ceiling material is to be used in the Lobby 100.

Ceiling finishes were identified in Addendum #1.

For such a large ground up construction project (described on page 1; Paragraph A‐1; of Section A: Invitation to Bid) Can you please confirm that the construction duration of this project is only 385 Calendar Days as stated in the project manual?

Dudick would like to be considered as a substitute for the Division 9 section 096723, resinous flooring scope.

Division 23 Controls specification "A. General: The control system shall be Honeywell Programmable Thermostat, or approved equal.  Sequence of operation and control system components are shown on the drawings."Is it the City’s intention to have each piece of equipment operate stand‐alone or is a central building management system required?  If that is the case will revised drawings and specifications be issued as an SOP and control system components were not indicated on the mechanical sheets?

Provide a full electronic Building Management System (BMS) which will control all HVAC. Manufacturers: Automated Logic, Alerton and Johnson Controls, or approved equal. All communicating equipment shall include BACnet controllers, or approved equal.

Where do section 098433 Sound Absorbing Wall Units occur? Contractor shall provide for in the Base Bid an allowance for the purchase and installation of 240 sf of 2” thick, gallery wrapped AudioMute Standard Acoustic Panels, or approved equal, color as selected by architect from Manufacturer’s full range., and (60) 2’x6’ custom shaped AudioMute AcoustiColor® Accent Baffles, or approved equal, color as selected by architect from Manufacturer’s full range.

Storeroom 182 shows room with no door #, please advise. Door was identified in Addendum #1.

Material spec'd as PL‐6 Nevamar Texture‐Watercolor S8001T on A9.0 was discontinued in 2005.  Please provide alternative.

Finishes were revised in Addendum #1.

Door #181, 116B, 180, 400, 401, 402 shown on floor plan but not on door schedule, please advise.

Room 115 does not indicate what countertop material is it.

Room 130, 134, 136, 173, and 177 have stainless steel countertop in the schedule but in the drawings they are solid surface.

For the stainless steel counter tops, some elevation views will have 05 70 00.A13 and some STS‐1.  What is the difference between the two?

Room 129 have no elevation, please include.

In going through the plans, finish schedule, and specs, I realized that the documents do no call out the thickness of the sheet rubber flooring.  Nora Environcare come in (2mm) and (3mm) thickness.  Could we get that clarified?

Can you please direct where we can locate list of meeting attendees for the Animal Shelter on the City website?

 I have a question concerning the Exterior CMU. On the elevation sheets A6.00 and A6.01 the exterior walls are called out as "Split Face" units with no patterns, but then on A9.00 a Ridiculously expensive and Labor intensive pattern is called out. Which is correct?

Drawing A2.0 has a lighter shade on hatch on the left hand side. This appears to be exterior concrete, but drawing A2.01 shows offices with a different hatch.  Can you please clarify what this hatch represents.

Drawing A2.0 show no slab in the dog stray kennel and the kennels attached.  Structural drawing S2.1 shows a depressed slab in these kennels.  Please clarify.

Drawing S2.01 note 15 shows concrete curbs per arch.  The detail is all through the left hand side of the page.  Drawing A2.0 shows hatch in the same locations, but the hatch the 6" or 8 " curbs.  Please clarify.

The correct CMU pattern had been revised and is identified on Sheet A9.01.  It is a repeating pattern consisting of 3 separate colors of 2 differing finishes.  At the 4th course, the basic pattern shifts 40” and repeats.  This basic alignment repeats itself each 4’ lift.

All Storefront, including glazing within common walls to animal housing rooms (dog and cat), shall be 2x6 center gazed, with 1” insulated glazing. This shall supersede any drawings within this addendum. 

The specs for equipment says NA, but we have an equipment list on sheet A9.06 with referencing to the manufacture or what specs of EQ to use. Are we excluding the equipment, is it owner provided, and /or will specs for this equipment be coming out?Windows number S14 and S13 show no Details. are these 2x6" center glazed with 1" infill Storefront or 1/4" glazed interior frames?

Since this project is bidding on the 20th, the day returning from a three day holiday weekend, will this bid date be changing? 

All interior and exterior windows with a head height of 14’ or lower shall have window shades, with the exception of Window S‐1. There are no motorized shades.

Unico Engineering, Inc. will be the City’s construction management team for the Elk Grove Animal Shelter.  Unico has hired their materials testing firms as part of their construction management team for this Project.

1. Spec section calls for ALL exterior and interior windows under head height of 14'. There was no call out on plans. Can you please clarify this is what they want? There are some interior areas that seem odd to have shades. If different, Can you please clarify exact location of shades needed. 

2. Spec talks about motorized shades. Can you please clarify if any are to be motorized?

Is the Fire Alarm System per plans and specs or design/build? The sheet notes indicate both. Please clarify.

Has a firm been selected yet to provide Special Inspection and Materials Testing Services?

I have read over the spec sheets to see if there are any references to AB693, I did not see any but I want to make doubly sure, can you please advise me if there is an AB693 issue?

Does window type S1 on page A9.05 get roller shades? Refer to addendum #2 for revised plan sheet A9.05.

On page A9.06, Equipment Schedule, are these to be included in the bid? We are not finding spec sections for these items. Please specify.

Stainless steel countertops are called off on the drawings but I don’t see them called off in the specifications. Please advise.

All stainless steel shall be 16 gauge #304.  All Stainless Steel Countertops shall have a 4”backsplash and 4” side return where applicable.

The cabinet elevations in Locker Rooms 158 & 162 call for metal lockers. The cabinet detail in these rooms also calls off metal lockers. The finish schedule calls off phenolic lockers. Please advise which material is correct. There are no specifications in the spec book for these lockers either…Please advise.

Lockers shall be revised as follows and configuration as identified on revised sheets and attached specification.  All lockers shall have a power kit.

We seem to be missing some spec sections for security on this project.  281300 Access Control & 28XXXX CCTV.  I see that there's drawings for these systems, but no spec sections.  I'm pulling this information up off the sac builders exchange.

Q.  10 21 13 part 2 is calling out for HDPE partitions by Scranton. Section b references material thickness to be ½’ for panels, and ¾” for doors and pilasters. Scranton only offers their product in 1” thick material. Is the material to be HDPE, phenolic, or solid color composite reinforced (SCRC)? If the material is to be changed from HDPE can you please provide the new manufacturer, and hardware style that will be desired.

Sheet S2.01 Foundation plan notes #8, updated in Addendum #01.  The detail called out does not exist.  Please provide the correct detail reference.

Please refer to revise Sheet S2.01, as part of Addendum #2. 

Review of the specifications, we are missing specifications section on Cementitious Acoustic Spray.  This material is being called for in several rooms where it is required above the painted CMU walls.  Reference to sheet A9.00 in Addendum #01 provides callout as CAS‐1.  This all being said, we are also curious if the CAS‐1 finish is to have an integral color or if it will be painted similar to the CMU walls below per the finish schedule.

CAS‐1 shall by Pyrok Acoustement 40, or approved equal.  Refer to attached specification section, with 1 1/2” x 2” galv. trim at bottom edge.

We cannot find any specifications for equipment listed as CFCI in Addendum 1 on Sheet A9.06, including kennels and phenolic lockers and stainless steel tops, etc.   Please advise.

All stainless steel shall be 16 gauge #304.  All Stainless Steel Countertops shall have a 4”backsplash and 4” side return where applicable.

Looking to see if there will be a Public Address System for the Animal Shelter project? Can you please confirm if it will be part of the bid or if it will come out at a later date?

There is no public address system as part of this Project.

In the Wall Types Chart On Pages A2.02 through A2.05 the wall type  C8.1 is referenced for all the CMU walls. The sheet number that is referenced for that wall type is AD.01 but on Page AD.01 that wall type is not listed under any of the CMU partitions. Please define what kind of partition C8.1 is. Thank you and have a great day!

Individual dog kennel CMU walls shall be precision faced 6x8x16 at 5’‐4” tall with full epoxy coating (Ep‐1) on all sides. All Exterior CMU walls shall be 8x8x16 and per CMU finish as indicated on Sheet A9.01, with a precision faced finish towards the interior.  All exposed interior CMU walls not covered with epoxy or other wall furring, shall be ground face.

Section 01 33 00  ‐ 4 – Sustainable Design Requirements Part 1.10.C calls for submittals to go through “e‐builder construction management software” for require and approval.  Will the contractors be provided access to the city of Elk Grove’s e‐builder system, or is the expectation that the contractor should buy our own version of the e‐builder software and provide the city of Elk Grove access?  I do know that enterprise licenses for e‐builder can be as much as $250,000.  This is the only location in the specifications that reference e‐builder.  Thank you in advance.

Submittals under this Section 01 33 00 do not need to be submitted through "e‐builder construction management software".  Please remove all references.

Clarification on the following door hardware issues:

The prints show Cat 6 for the cameras but in the spec (page 28 05 13 – 1 & 2) it calls out Cat 6A. Which is required?

Can you tell us if the ceiling space is going to be plenum rated or riser rated for the cabling?

Cat 6A.  Plenum rating is not required.

Reviewing the contract documents, there are several disciplines that show what appear to be ceiling mounted surgery lights in rooms 146 & 150. What appear to be lights, are not identified on the electrical schedules / sheets, not specified, not schedule on the sheet A9.00 Equipment Schedule, and no special framing shown on the structural sheets for support /mounting of said units.

Please refer to updated equipment schedule.  Contractor shall provide required backing and support and dedicated power supply as required. 

Med Gas Rm 143 does not show any piping in or out of the room. Is there to be med gas piping to the Surgery Area? Isthere to be med gas piping distribution throughout the facility? Routed to multiple rooms? Routed overhead to Surgery Area?

Please refer to Plumbing Drawings Addendum #1.  However, medical gas shall be routed to two surgery tables instead on only one as shown.

On sheet E2.00 there is a tag showing that room 143 will be enlarged on page E6.10 detail J. There is no detail J on that page (or any other that would coincide). Can you please supply a detail to show was is needed in this room electrically?

On sheets E1.20 and E2.62 the notes show that items will be moved based on add alternates. Can you provide information on which location they are being taken from (more specifically)?

On sheet E5.20 the there is a numbered note with no corresponding tag. Is this meant for unit “AC‐4” or “EF‐4?”

The Detail J/E6.10 callout is no longer used. Please refer to Detail H/E6.10 for the Room 143 requirements.

For E1.20 the SF3A fixture with Numbered Sheet Note 1 by it moves to the SF3A location with Numbered Sheet Note 2 by it. For Sheet E2.62, the devices are taken from the east exterior doors of Room 116 and Room 207.

Confirming, Numbered Sheet Note 1 on Sheet E5.20 is not used on this sheet.

Can you please advise for detail 6/AD.04 what type of locking system for this gate?

All chain link fencing shall have a 1 ¾” mesh with a bottom rail.

Gate hardware shall be as described on gate details, not hardware schedule.  However, the door hardware shall match comparable manufacturers and products as listed on the hardware schedule.

Bidders shall provide 1 dedicated 115v outlet GFIC for each Dog Kennel Room, both interior and exterior.

Refer to added Sheet FS‐1 for exterior freezer.  Contractor shall connect to all plumbing drains to the sanitary sewer, whether or not specifically shown.

The following doors shall have a ½ door vision lite (24”x36):   108, 109, 115A, 117A, 117B, 118, 119, 120A, 120B, 120C, 120D, 121B, 22B, 124, 125, 126, 130, 131, 132, 133B, 134B, 144B, 172, 203B, 206, 207A, 207B, 300B, 300C, 300D, 301, 302, 304B, 305B. All glazing shall be 3/8” tempered.  This shall supersede any vision lite shown on the addenda drawings.

CLARIFICATIONS

All exterior doors with the exception of storefront doors shall have a lockguard, Trimco 5001, 32D.

Contractor shall provide within the base Bid, an allowance for the purchase and installation of twelve (12), 14” Solartube 300 DS Closed Ceiling, with required installation accessories, or approved equal, to be located throughout the facility.

General Note #26, shall be corrected to read, Contractor shall provide within the Base Bid, an allowance for the purchase and installation of 150, 10” high, mill finish cast aluminum letters with a ½” standoff.  Wording and font to be determined by the Architect.

Sheet A9.00‐ In locations of FRP, the height shall be full height.

I am looking at the Acoustical Ceiling work and having a hard time deciphering the WB‐1 Acoustical Metal Acoustical Panel.  The ceiling is called out as WB‐1 for the Lobby, on the Finish Schedule; however, Sheet Addn‐01 A4.01 calls out 05 12 00.A1 for the ceiling/deck.  I am not sure where the Armstrong Metal Ceilings are to be figured.
