Taking a MeasurementReset the counter on the pump to zero bydepressing the reset button using a penor unbroken tube.

Insert the tube into the pump inlet withthe arrow pointing toward the pump.

Taking a Measurement

Grip the pump according to the photo.Compress the bellows completely (strokecounter will advance), then release yourgrip; the air sample begins to be pulled through the tube.


End of stroke indicatoris dark when pump isunder vacuum.

Wait for the end ofstroke indicator topop up (white).

Signifies completion ofthe stroke

Take the requirednumber of strokesaccording to theinstructions

The time per stroke willvary based on thespecific tube used

Remove the tube from thepump at the end of the laststroke and read the tubeimmediately (unless theinstructions specify otherwise)

Read the total length ofthe discoloration

If the discolorationbecomes progressivelylighter, read to thepoint where the faintestdiscoloration is justvisible.

Tips for Reading Draeger-Tubes

Adequate lighting - no direct sunlightHold tube against light coloredbackgroundCompare with an unused tube

Using a light background like a white sheetof paper and comparing with an unused tubewill enhance the color distinction

Interchanging Dräger pumps and tubes with othermanufacturer’s products is not recommended norpermitted according to OSHA regulations

The American National Standard for gas detectortube units, ANSI/ISEA 102-1990, “Short Term Typefor Toxic Gases and Vapors in WorkingEnvironments” was reaffirmed for five years onNovember 3, 1998. The new reference for thestandard is ANSI/ISEA 102-1990 (R1998).
