Assets Creation, Up gradation and Maintenance : Review of Progress under MGNREGA through 2007-08 to 2012-13The study assess the programmes outcomes, impact and potentials in terms of the following background: Padhi (CRD, 2013) finds that the NREGS has the potential to transform the rural economy. Centre for Science and Environment similarly found (2008) that Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) has huge potential for regenerating the rural economy, but only if its focus remains on creation of productive assets. Further, CAG has quashed the programme in creation of durable and sustainable assets while UNDP (2013) has praised the outcomes of the programme
