About Us

Maharishi Markandeshwar University, MullanaMaharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana-Ambala, erstwhile known as Maharishi Markandeshwar Education Trust was founded with the objective of social, educational and economic upliftment of society in the year 1993, in the name of Lord Shiva’s devotee, “Maharishi Markandeshwar Ji”. MM University Trust, Mullana- Ambala has become a symbol of quality education in technical, professional and medical streams in northern India and has been carrying on its lineage for over 20 years. M.M. Engineering CollegeMaharishi Markandeshwar Engineering College (MMEC) is the first Self-financing engineering college established in the state of Hary-ana in the year 1995, Prior to getting affiliated with MMU, it was permanently affiliated to Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. In the year 2006, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), AICTE, New Delhi accorded Accreditation Status to its various programs. The College is presently running B.Tech and M. Tech Programs in all the major engineering disciplines. The institute is also involved in active research and is running Phd in various disciplines of En-gineering and sciences. MMEC Central LibraryThe Library is housed in two magnificent spacious halls on 1st and 2nd floors covering an area of 1421.56 sq. mts. It is Air Conditioned and Computerized with Library Management Package, namely SOUL. The Library collection comprising Books, Cd’s, NPTEL Video courses , Thesis, Standards and Back Volumes came to 63722 with 15661 nos. of titles along with 447 Journals/E-Journals. Library subscribes Online Journals of IEEE/IEE, ASME and ASCE databases and it has membership of National Networks, such as, DELNET, INFLIBNET .

SIRs (Society for Information Research and Studies)Society for Information Research and Studies is a not-for-profit organization spearheaded -by a group of leading entrepreneurial professionals working in the fields like information packaging and consolidation, graphic design and development, content development and core competency development through capacity building programmes.

SIRs plays a strong role in shaping the future, and continues this work vigorously. Through the teams of experts who lead and produce the publications - the training course providers, the network of expert members and staff, as well as the editorial and SIRs advisory boards - current trends are monitored, and leadership is provided through the products and services on offer to esteemed members.

Background

In tune with the fast changing developments taking place in the field of information and communication technology, publishing activity has gradually moved from its conventional paper-based set up to electronic publishing environment, literally on to the desktop. This gave way to electronic paper, electronic journal and electronic (digital) library. Traditional libraries are meeting places of teachers and researchers supporting formal, interdependent and collaborative learning and research. However, virtual libraries facilitate individual, independent and informal learning.

The future of the librarian is inextricably linked with the library and as the role of the library changes so will that of the librarian from custodian to navigator and evaluator of information and information resources, a role that is absolutely crucial in the new Web environment where there are great quantities of information, but finding the quality in that huge haystack is a difficult task.

ObjectivesThe major objectives of this conference are to:

Call for Papers & Paper Submission GuidelinesParticipants are invited to submit original, unpublished papers based on research or practical experience on sub themes mentioned above for presentation at the conference. The full paper must be submitted in English language in soft copy form in MS-Word 2010 format to the email: <knowledge.professional.india@gmail.com>. The paper should be free from grammatical errors with complete references cited within the text. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, provided the paper is presented in person by the author/co-author.
