Holiday Greetings,

The arrival of December signals that we have completed half of the academic school year. We ask that you monitor your sons/daughters academic progress, the next grading period will be the issuing of the 2nd Progress Reports for the 2nd Nine Weeks on Wednesday December 14th and in case where follow-up is necessary, parent conferences can be arranged by contacting the teacher. Using the district Parent Portal (Skyward) is a tool for parents to view their sons/daughters grades and attendance on line. Absences can and will affect grades, class rank and grade point average. Therefore it is very important for all students to attend school. All LISD schools will observe winter break on December 19th - January 4th, and classes will resume Wednesday January 4, 2017. As we approach the holiday season, my hope for each of you is that you have a chance to take some time for yourself to relax and reflect. I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Feliz Navidad y un Prospero Año Nuevo from all of us at Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa High School.

CHS Culinary Arts... Cooks up Some Competition

Congratulations! students in Mrs. Veronica Dominguez Culinary Arts Class!

LISD Child Nutrition Program hosted their 4th Annual Food Expo on Friday,

December 2, 2016 at the LISD Performing Arts Center Ballroom. An “IRON CHEF” student recipe contest

took place and Cigarroa High students Arianna Terrazas and Bibi Flores were

the Grand Winners for the “IRON CHEF” competition with their delectable

healthy “Avocado Macaroni”. The win-ners for the BEST TASTE competition were Krystal Rangel, Claudia Rocha, Tiffany Gaytan and Sarahi Hernandez, with their delicious healthy “Pumpkin

December is here and this is a huge milestone for seniors that are college bound. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)is a necessary component for colleges and scholarships. www.fafsa.ed.gov Informational meeting about Financial Aid and the FAFSA will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14th in the school library throughout the day, parents are encouraged to attend to get first hand information about your FAFSA, how to plan ahead, deadlines, and what to expect. The Dr. Leo G. Cigarroa art classes are off to a great start. Carla rode on the LISD Christmas Parade and lit the Christmas tree on Friday, December 2nd. She will also be recognized during the LISD Board of Trustees meeting on Thursday, December 15th. The greeting card will be mailed out prior to the Christmas break.
