The New Year began on a very positive note for us. Our Founder Chairman and Managing Director Dr GVK Reddy was honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the

6th EPC World Awards held in New Delhi on 18 January 2017. Dr GVK Reddy was honoured for his exceptional contribution towards the infrastructure and construction sectors, in the presence of eminent industry stalwarts. Some of the other winners in different categories included Tata Projects Ltd, IL&FS,

Reliance Infrastructure, DIAL, Adani Institute, BSNL, GMR Foundation, JCB India Ltd and JSW Cement.Over the years, the EPC World Awards have evolved as a national platform and are recognized as one of

the most prestigious industry recognitions in India.

GVK MIAL, in association with the Mumbai Rose Society organized the Fourth International Flower Festival at MIAL Staff Colony, Sahar Road in Mumbai. An array of flowers welcomed the visitors at the two-day exhibition that was inaugurated by Ms Uravshi J Thacker, a well-known bonsai expert and Trustee of Jamnabai Narsee School in the presence of Dr Narendra Hosabettu, Head Environment Department, MIAL along with other dignitaries. The exhibition witnessed participation of various corporate houses, NGOs and Govt agencies etc. The nurseries showcased a wide variety of flowers, plants and sustainable products.

When it comes to learning, it is rightly said that age is never a barrier. Mr Rajeev Jain, CEO - MIAL successfully completed the Chartered Global Management Accountant course from the prestigious Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK. Congratulations to Mr Jain for this stupendous achievement! Mr Rajeev Jain is also a fellow member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, The Institute of Cost Accountants of India and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK. He has also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Management conferred by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India post qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He is truly an inspiration for all of us. One must always strive to learn new things and keep growing as an individual.

Travelers from Mumbai can now fly directly to Jakarta as MIAL announced the commencement of flight operations of Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier of the largest archipelago. The Mumbai bound aircraft will be operational three times a week, providing a direct link between India and Indonesia.

To help deal with the challenges of service management, PT Angkasa Pura 1 organized Workshop Airport Services Group with the theme ‘Consolidation and Reconciliation in order to improve Airport Service Quality (ASQ)’. Airport Services Group is a unit that aims to improve the airport services and in line with this year’s theme, the forum focused on the Airport Services Quality of all the 13 airports under Angkasa Pura 1 Airports. The three-day forum was held in Jakarta and the speakers represented diverse backgrounds like hospitality, customer service etc. Cici Kusumo Pratiwi, Vice President Business Development GVK Services Indonesia and Vishnu Mohan Jha, Commercial Operation GVK Services Indonesia were among the eminent speakers along with other senior representatives of Garuda Indonesia.

A Blood Donation Program was conducted at the GVK Kishorepura

contributed towards the noble cause.

A thanksgiving ceremony was organized to bid adieu to Chef Tariq who had come all the way from Srinagar to provide assistance during a Kashmiri Food Festival held at Taj Banjara. His culinary skills helped prepare a wide

array of traditional delicacies during the festival that lasted a fortnight. Chef Tariq shared his recipes with the chefs at Taj Banjara and mentored them very well. His

efforts were acknowledged and highly appreciated by the entire team of Taj Banjara.

Gautami CCPP conducted the 28th Road Safety Week Campaign for the associates. A Road Safety Oath program was held on 9 January, 2017 followed by training programs for the

staff and outsourced employees on 12 January and 13 January, 2017 respectively.

A Road Safety Week was organized at GVK’s Jaipur-Kishangarh Expressway and Deoli-Kota Expressway Project in Rajasthan. Held from 9 January to 15 January, 2017, many awareness

activities were conducted for the benefit of the staff and the expressway users.

GVK EMRI-Tamil Nadu celebrates Pongal

All associates at GVK EMRI-Tamil Nadu came together to celebrate the traditional festival of

Pongal. The facility was decorated with colourful rangolis. The associates enjoyed cooking Pongal in an earthen pot using traditional ingredients.

Among the invitees was the renowned film actor Mr Jeeva. He was also given a tour of the

Emergency Research Centre.

A Road Safety Week program was organized by the Road Safety Club - Nahan at District Sirmaur, Himachal

Pradesh. Many awareness activities educating people about traffic rules and health check-up camps were

also conducted. During the event, the District Team of 108 NAS (National Ambulance Service) Sirmaur was felicitated for its good work and exceptional service.

Team GVK EMRI - Chhattisgarh conducted many awareness activities to apprise the students and

other citizens about road safety.

GVK EMRI - Uttarakhand serves over 11 lakh emergencies in the stateGVK EMRI 108 service, Uttarakhand crossed a significant milestone as it served over 11 lakh emergencies in the state on 4 January, 2017. A get-together was organized in the office and the staff was congratulated for providing timely and effective services. The 108 service began operations on 15 May, 2008. With a fleet of 139 ambulances and 700 employees, around 400-450 calls are attended on a daily basis. Till date, a total of 4.26 lakh pregnant women have been transported to healthcare centres and around 9000 child births have been assisted in the ambulances. The 108 team has saved over 28,300 lives since inception.

Shivaji Jayanti or the birthday of Shivaji Maharaj is widely celebrated in Maharashtra. His parents Jijabai and Shahaji

Bhonsle named him Shivaji after the local Goddess Shivai. He was the creator of the Maratha nation and was instrumental

in uniting the Maratha chiefs of Maval, Konkan and Desh regions. He is remembered for his military prowess and civil

administration.

National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28th to honour the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara

Venkata Raman on this day in 1930. For his discovery, Raman was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. National Science Day is celebrated as one of the major science festivals during which students from schools, colleges and science institutions from across the country
