Page 2 ENCOUNTER

I want to begin by saying thank you

to all of you that wrote our students

cards, paid their way to camp and

prayed for them. Without you doing those

things this past week wouldn't have been the

same. Camp is always a special time. For what-

ever reason it seems God always does awesome

things when we go to camp and this past week

was no different. We had two students accept

Christ, and several others came away with a

strong desire to live for Christ. Not only did

several of our students accept Christ but many

of them also shared Christ with other people.

It was truly a great week of camp and each of

you here at FBC Jonesboro had a part to play in

this past week. I also need to say a big thank

you to the adults that went. They sacrificed so

much to be with our students and their pres-

ence made a huge difference in the lives of our

students. Thank you for allowing me to serve

you and your students here at FBC Jonesboro.

What Happened at Camp...

Care Giving for Children of Senior Adults Our Wednesday evening class continues to be an outstanding time of information sharing and

support from others who are in the same circumstances in caring for aging parents. Our last three Wednesday nights will address the following issues.

July 11 “Adding Meaning and Preserving Memories,” led by Brenda Wiseman, R.N.

July 18 “Addressing the End of Life With Purpose and Dignity,” led by Donna Lowe, Director of Hospice

July 25 “Sharing What Works and What Doesn’t From Some Who Have Been There”

led by Dianne Phelps, Mark McJunkin, Vickey Mullally, Tim Walters

Please join us in the Multi-Purpose Room at 5:45 for any or all of these. You are encouraged to ask friends to join us also.

Summer always feels like the time to kick back and enjoy those “lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.” And rightly so….we know what the fall brings!

The Sanctuary Choir takes time off from rehearsals in July. It’s time well-earned and needed. Our Choir leads worship almost every Sunday in the year and they do so with joy! During July, they are singing their favorite

anthems from 2011. They vot-ed, the results are in, and be-ginning with the anthem this past Sunday, “The Majesty and Glory of Your Name,” these are the songs that have meant the most to them. Perhaps in July you’ll hear one of your favorites as well.

In August, we’ll resume rehears-als and anticipate having new folks join us! During July talk to

a choir member, see what’s in-volved, and consider joining us in August on Wednesday evenings!

What If ...

Middle-aged Ben happily pursues his materialistic

goals -- until a visit from an angelic mechanic

throws a "wrench" into his world-view. Then the

angel permits Ben to see the man he would

have been had he followed God's call to marriage

and the ministry. Will the glimpse of what he's

missing remind him of what he truly wants?
