Currently, there are three (3) types ofincisions used during breastaugmentation surgery. Dr. Agha willdiscuss with you in detail during yourcosmetic surgery consultation, whichincision is best tailored for your results.Let’s take a look at the types of incisionsbefore you schedule your consultation. The first type of incision is the Periareolarincision. In the simplest of terms, thismeans the incision is made around yourareola or nipple. Dr. Agha makes thisincision where your darker nipple skinmeets the lighter skin of your breast. Itallows for a less perceptible scar after youhave recovered. This type of incision is agreat advantage to Dr. Agha, as it willenable him to place your breast implantmore precisely.

The second type of incision is called theInframammary incision. Dr. Agha makesthis incision under the natural fold orcrease of your breast. The natural fold iswhere your lower breast meets the wall ofyour chest. The exact area of your breastthat many women want to fix or refer toas “bra-sweat.” As it is natural for breaststo descend downward and outward a bit, this incision makes the scar less visible. Ifyou have considerably small breasts, tobegin with, Dr. Agha may advise you toconsider another incision option. If youhave little to zero natural creases in yourbreast fold, it would be more challengingto place an implant correctly.

The third type of incision is theTransaxillary incision. Dr. Agha uses thistechnique when he puts the incision inyour armpit. It is the third most popularincision site for breast implants. The keybenefit of this breast implant incision isthe advantage of leaving no scars on yourbreasts. Generally, nobody wouldassociate scarring in your armpit withbreast augmentation surgery. In fact, veryrarely does anyone walk around withexposed armpits and their hands in thesky.

THERE'S NO NEED TOBE A SIZE QUEEN

To be blunt, plastic surgeons in Newport Beach are everywhere. Sowhy consider having surgery with Dr. Siamak Agha? What is it abouthim that will make you a happier patient in the end? Dr. Agha ismeticulous in his approach toward giving you symmetry. Manysurgeons in Orange County rush through breast surgery proceduresto cut down on operating room costs and anesthesiologist fees. Thatmindset is not allowed in our plastic surgery center. Time andattention to detail are critical components of achieving a splendidresult. For this reason, your breast augmentation consultation is themost significant part of your transformation process. You will havethe opportunity to fully express your desired results in a way whichallow you to achieve them.

At our Newport Beach Plastic Surgery Center, we understand thatbigger is not always better. The common catch phrase “size-queen”doesn’t apply only to gay culture anymore. Women don’t want to besize queens with their breasts either. At any age you want to look inthe mirror and see that your breasts look like they fit your body. It ishuman nature to desire to have body parts that resemble those ofothers and to fit in. Men say they feel insecurity about parts of theirbody all the time when they walk around the locker room and it is thesame for both sexes.   Psychologically and emotionally, getting thebreasts you want will dramatically increase your self-esteem andoverall confidence. So many women feel stigmatized by advertisersof clothing companies for being different, and from their peers fornot looking the way they do. We strongly encourage you to takecharge of what it is you want to change about your chest.

The most common type of implant used for breast augmentations inthe United States is the round silicone implant. Newer versions ofthis implant come with a more cohesive gel filling called the "gummybear" implant. The benefit of cohesive gel is a decrease in thelikelihood of leaking and rippling while maintaining a very soft andnatural feel. There are different styles of round implants, and thespecific implant selected will depend upon the patient's taste andgoals. Round implants are typically used when a woman prefers theoption for more upper pole fullness, which is a rounder and larger inappearance in the upper part of the breast. Some round implantsaccentuate this, while others are used to minimize it.

Shaped or "anatomic" implants have been increasing in popularityacross the country. These implants increase the overall volume ofyour breasts, while minimizing a round appearance in the upper poleof the breasts. Some women wish to avoid too much fullness in theupper portion of their breasts. Again, this is why breast implants aresuch a personal decision. These implants are firmer than most roundimplants in order to hold their shape and maintain a very smooth, natural slope to the upper part of the breast.

Silicone implants have an excellent safety profile, and the FDA hasapproved their use in patients who are older than 21 years of age. Dr.Agha consults and operates on many women transforming theirbreasts. He hears from women more often than not; silicone gelimplants look and feel more natural than saline implants. A lot ofwomen express their sexual partner has said the same thing relatedto the feel of silicone implants. However, saline breast implants alsohave an excellent safety profile and can still be used to achievebeautiful results in select patients. During your cosmetic surgeryconsultation, Dr. Agha will go over your breast implant options indetail. You will not be rushed or hurried into a decision during thisprocess. Dr. Agha wants you to fully understand the benefits of thevarious incision types for this surgery.

However, one of the drawbacks to the transxaxillary incision is if yourequire additional corrective surgery down the road. Examples of thisinclude capsulectomy, symmastia, and bottoming out of the implant. If any of these were to happen, the incision would be too difficult todo again through your armpit. These potential side effects of breastimplants are discussed at length during your time in our office. Weuse Sientra, Mentor, and Allergan implants and the reason for this isit isn’t a one size fits all approach to the implant itself.
