E NEWSLETTER- SENIOR WING DPSG Bestows Honours on the Young Leaders August 6 th ,2019 stood witness to an inspiring ceremony of handing over the badges to the prefects. The making of leaders is an experience in itself. Our young leaders at DPSG have to go through a stringent process which involves introspection through a self-assessment proforma, facing interviews with the panel and then with the Principal. The parent community was also present to witness the much awaited event. It was indeed a proud moment for parents to see their child being given responsibilities of the highest order. The Chief Guest for the day was the alumnus of the school, an ex-army man, Mr Nitin Mehta who is currently a model and an actor.The programme commenced with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony followed by the rendition of an inspiring and motivating self composed group song by the students of Secondary Wing, that set the mood and tone of the event . Then came the much awaited moment. Tension and apprehension reached a crescendo as the students waited with baited breath for their posts to be disclosed. Thereafter, the Chief Guest awarded badges and flaps to the new executive members of the student community, congratulated the winners and wished them all the very best. The students felt humbled with a sense of responsibility conferred upon them as the Chief Guest administered the oath taking ceremony to the leaders. The Principal congratulated the prefects and exhorted them to be honest, honourable and maintain the sanctity of the posts bestowed upon them. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the Headmistress of the Senior Secondary Wing.

Independence Day Celebrations

DPSG fraternity celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with unprecedented patriotic fervor on August 14, 2019. The students of classes IX and X participated in the musical theatrical presentation based on Raja Ranjeet Singh, the leader of the Sikh Empire, who ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. The performance filled every heart with love for their motherland and the thoughtfulness of the sacrifices made by its brave sons to make it free from the British rule.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Ms Asha Sharma, Mayor of Ghaziabad. The celebration began with the march of NCC cadets of DPSG. The Principal addressed the gathering and urged the audience to make India free from environmental pollution by contributing in the cause. Issues like water scarcity and environmental degradation were further emphasized by Ms Asha Sharma, in her spirited speech. Simran Singh of class XII recited a beautiful self composed patriotic poem which left the audience spellbound.

Ms Krishna Singh, Head Mistress, Secondary Wing proposed the vote of thanks.

ACCOLADES

Students of senior wing participated in Creo 2019 – Inter-School Festival held at Nehru World School, Ghaziabad on 8, 9 and 10 August 2019. The young technocrats, Shrey Sharma ( IBDP ), Ranya Kaushik, Teena Jain of class XI made us proud by bagging the first prize in “Tech n Gen”. Their research project and model on making paper using water hyacinth was much appreciated by the jury members.

The young cinematographers of DPSG made their alma mater proud by bagging the second position in documentary film making competition “Dox Box”. Their documentary on physical and cyber bullying was one of the top two entries out of 27 participating teams from NCR. The issue of bullying related to the youngsters bagged a standing ovation by the audience of CREO 2019. Akarshan Mishra of IBDP, Ishan Agarwal, Raghav Singhal and Samyak Singhal of Class XI participated in the event.

It is a pleasure to share the winning performance of our students in ECO Verve 2019 competition held at Mayur Public school, IP extension, Delhi.Utkarsh Singh, Kunal Jindal of class XI and Krish Lamba of class X , our young robot team, bagged 3rd position in “NEO ROBO“ wherein the students made a robot for the segregation of waste, passing the hurdles and sweeping the dust.

The green brigade of class XI won second prize in `Global Green Network Channel Making competition’ where our students made a presentation and their talk show on WATER CRISIS and Plastic Waste disposal provided a food for thought to the young policy makers. Vartika Sisodia, Abhinav Rana, Dhruv Tyagi and Prakhar Tomar participated in the event.

The students of class XII attended a session on recent changes in the admission procedure of Delhi University conducted by Pratham Counselling The session focused on new method of calculating Best of four. Students were informed that there would be no deduction for including MIL(Modern Indian languages)in best of four, which means that if a student has included any of the languages as one of their main subjects for calculating their best of four marks they will not have to bear a deduction of 2.5 percent. Yoga is no longer considered a part of Sports Quota as it is put under ECA. Separate cutoffs for the EWS category have also been released. They were also updated about changes in various Entrance Examination.

CBSE CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOPS

The All India Teachers Training Workshop in Geospatial Technology was held at DPSG on 22-23 August 2019. Ms Neitu Singh Malic, PGT Geospatial Technology conducted the workshop as a subject expert and resource person. A session was also held by Mr Jaswinder Singh of Wadhwani foundation to orient the teachers about recently introduced employability skill education in all the vocational subjects. Mr Mukesh Kumar from ROLTA Industries also conducted a session on the Geomatica software, which is an industry grade software used in the schools for practical training of the students. IMG_5059

A workshop on Banking and Insurance was conducted by Ms Pooja Malik PGT Banking & Insurance and Mr Laxman Sharma PGT Accountancy wherein a briefing of new curriculum and Blue Print for the session 2019-20 was held. A comprehensive understanding of the contents in the curriculum and a discussion on ‘Employability Skill’ Module took place.
