Language used

Loads of texts suggest it is targeted for an intellectual reader.

When quoting from an interview they use the same language as the person being interviewed, as they use the word “fuck”. Many other magazines would edit the speech, this makes the magazine reliable to it’s audience.

Indirect

some use of Informal language otherwise it is formal

Inclusive to people, as it is very detailed in explaining the artist and his life.

The colour red is used throughout the magazine, as seen in the colour of the text in the front cover and in the image, however the image could be a coincidence. The dark colours such as grey and black is consistently used throughout. The bold text is used in both the front cover, and the double page spread, this matches the style and theme of bold and strong like the magazine title . The font cover is similar but not the same font (sans serif bold).

No immediate comparison

What style of text is used? All the texts are bold capital letters with dark manly colours .

They have used different fonts so the audience doesn’t get bored of seeing the same style.

The consistence colours of the magazine are red, white and black. Sometimes they use an additional colour throughout the magazine depending on the significant of that colour.

How is the page laid out?

As an audience our eyes natural notice the article title (eye flow), because it has an artist’s name we would be interested in matching the name to a face so we then notice the photo which looks as if it is more dominate over the double page spread; symbolising importance.

Attempted connotation: Mac Dre’s photo looks like a natural pleasant photo instead of being intimidating like 50 cent’s (on the front cover), this is because many people would want to remember him being innocent and talented.

The low angle shot shows the status that Mac Dre used to have in the music industry. It is interested how the image has a car as it is ironic how he was shot in his car.
