    Fall 2012

Delta Phi Epsilon has had quite a busy semester this fall. Sisters have participated in numerous events topromote sisterly bonding, community service as well as academics. Specifically, sisters have had theopportunities to go apple and pumpkin picking on a farm, make new friends during homecomingactivities planned through UMD and host one of the most successful philanthropy events of the season.DPhiE prides itself on staying active in the community and thats one thing that the Delta Xi chapterdoes best.

This fall semester has allowed the newest members of the chapter to integrate themselves with oldersisters and truly grasp what sisterhood means in DPhiE. Although our chapter did not take in a newpledge class this fall, sisters held an open house in November. Fall in Love with DPhiE allowedprospective new members to get a feel for our house, sisters and the sorority as a whole. Our VP ofRecruitment as well as the recruitment team did a great job planning this event. We are so excited to seewhat they have in store for our Spring Recruitment next semester.

Thanks to an extremely dedicated groupof girls, this years Deepher Dude was the most successful event weve ever planned. VP ProgrammingLeah Yablonka worked with the Deepher Dude Committee and more than 50 DPhiE coaches to put onsuch an amazing event. 2012 marked the year that DPhiE at the University of Maryland raised the mostmoney EVER in our 52-year legacy in College Park. 500 tickets sold out and over 700 people were inattendance. DPhiE Does

DPhiE sisters love to help out in our community! This fall, tons of sisters participated in Sigma ChisDerby Days, a week-long event featuring contests, obstacle courses and other fun competitions between

sororities to raise money for the Childrens Miracle Network. Deeph was able to take the gold in theSlip n Slide, the watermelon eating contest and the mattress race. Although we didnt place in the finaltop three, we are so proud of our sisters participation and accomplishments.

Every year, DPhiE sisters participate in TerpThon. TerpThon is a dance marathon benefitting theChildrens Miracle Network. It is held in Ritchie Coliseum every spring and has a bunch of fun eventsleading up to it. This fall, TerpThon hosted the Color Run for the Kids: participants ran in a race and ranthrough colored chalk at the finish line. In 2011 and 2012, DPhiE partnered up with Sigma Nu tofundraise for this amazing causeour team raised the most donation money during those two years. Wehope that we can continue on this tradition and be the best fundraisers for TerpThon 2013.
