The book is available online at Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com, and on his own website, www. kevindowns.com. Downs said he moved to Georgia from Michigan to appraise homes during the housing boom and decided to stay. The author was born at Fort Rucker, Ala., and he grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, Mich. His father was a decorated Army officer and his stepfather a former CIA agent. Downs’ fascina- tion with the military and CIA never stopped, and he has been writing since the age of 13. Downs lived near Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas for several years, which gave him the opportunity to con- duct interviews with Navy Seals. The author became a researcher who studied com- puters and genetics at Central Michigan University and the University of Las Vegas.
