To make a list available onMiniVAN, you need to export itfrom My List.

Click on the MiniVAN button in theicon bar at the top of the My Listscreen.

You will then need to selecta script. You can eitherselect a single script for allvoters, or select scripts fordifferent target subgroupsof a selected Target Pool.

You will also need to selectthe user who you wish to beable to access this list for

canvassing. If you wish tomake your list available toseveral users you will eitherneed to repeat this process orcreate a List Number for themto enter.

You can create a List Numberby producing a canvass cardPDF (see Quick Sheet 4.1).

4.3 Canvassing with MiniVAN

What MiniVAN is the Smartphone App that allows you to canvass without using paper.

WhyCanvassing with MiniVAN is quicker, as you can enter the data straight into your

phone as you canvass. There is no need to enter the data on your computer whenyou have finished, you can simply upload the results from your phone.

WhereThe MiniVAN app can be downloaded from the Google Play store onAndroid and the App store on iPhones and iPad. To export a list to

MiniVAN, you will use the MiniVAN icon on the My List screen.

MiniVAN is available from theGoogle Play Store on Androiddevices and from the App storeon Apple devices. Open youravailable store and search for‘MiniVAN’.

Click ‘Install’ then ‘Accept &Download’. The App will beinstalled. (Screens shownhereare Android, Apple will lookdifferent).

1. Log in to MiniVanTo open MiniVAN, simply tapthe icon on your phone.

The app will open and showyou a Log In screen. You mustenter connect.libdems.org.ukin the ‘url’ section.

Enter your usual username andpassword.

2. Select your databaseYou will need to select thedatabase you wish to use. Fornormal canvassing, you willwant to select ‘My Voters’ in‘Real Mode’

3. Select your listOnce you have selected yourdatabase, you will bepresented with a list ofavailable lists. These are allthose that have been exportedto your user account (see Page1).

Alternatively, you can enter alist number. This refers to a listnumber of printed canvasscards. This feature is reallyuseful for group canvassing asit allows you to join a groupwho are already canvassing.

4. Download your listOnce you have selected yourlist, you can then download it.Once it is downloaded, you willnot need to use a dataconnection again until youhave finished canvassing.

5. Find the right houseYou can find the household you are looking for using a list or amap. The list of houses will be opened by default. Tap on ‘Map’at the top of the screen to switch to Map View.

Use thesearch box torestrict theaddressesshown to justone street.

Use the filterbutton toshow allhouses orjust odds orevens.

Tap theaddress tosee thevoters in thehousehold.

6. Find the right voterWhen you open thehousehold, you will see a listof the voters living within it.

By tapping on eachindividual voter’s name youwill load their data.

It will show their data,including name, address,phone number, canvassanalysis and poll number.

On this screen, you can alsoadd a phone number oremail address.

Tap ‘ViewHousehold’to bring upthe voters.

7. Entering dataYou can clickon the ‘NotCanvassed’button to adda CanvassResult (NotHome,Movedetc)

For each question, tap ‘NoResponse’. The options will bedisplayed. Simply tap theresponse given.

Click on the Scriptbutton to open thequestions youneed to ask thevoter.

8. Syncing dataWhen you have completed yourcanvassing, you must then syncthe data.

Tap the sync icon at the bottomof the screen (circling arrows)and a menu will be displayed.

You can select from fouroptions as to whether you wishto keep the results on yourphone.

You will need to re-enter yourpassword in order to completethe data sync.

9. Committing data to ConnectSyncing data from yourmobile phone does not loadthe data immediately intoConnect.

The data must be committedby a user (DeputyConstituency Manager orabove). This is to preventincorrect data accidentally

being recorded.

To commit the data, click onthe MiniVAN button on theright hand panel of the MainMenu screen.

From there, select thebatch(es) you wish to commitand click the ‘Commit’ button.

Click on the number ofattempts to see them

in more detail.

You can see here thenames and addresses ofeveryone your canvasser

attempted to contact.

This screen will confirmthat your data has been

saved correctly.

When you have chosenyour required batch(es),

click the ‘Commit’ button.

Change these options to narrow thelist to a specific canvasser, or seealready committed data. Click the‘refresh’ button to update the list.
