A politician and British statesman known for his leadership of the

United Kingdom during the Second World War.

WIFE AND CHILDREN

On September 2, 1908 he married Clementine Hozier. They had five children: Diana, Randolph, Sarah, Marigold and Mary.

Was Lord Randolph Churchill and his mother a American girl called Jennie Jerome.

Early years knew happiness, because in his autobiography recalls fondly the days spent with his protective mother, a

beautiful, educated, intelligent and sensitive.

At 26 he began his distinguished political career

He became a Conservative Member of

Parliament in 1900.

 In May, 1940, he became

Prime Minister and Minister of Defence and remained in office until

1945.

At the outbreak of the Second World War, he was appointed First Lord of the

Admiralty - a post which he

had earlier held from 1911 to

1915.

With an independent

spirit, opposed party discipline.

He held many high posts in Liberal and

Conservative governments during the first

three decades of the century.

 He took over the premiership again in

the Conservative victory of 1951 and resigned in 1955. 

Queen Elizabeth II conferred on Churchill the dignity of Knight

and the insignia of the Order of the Garter in

1953.  

Collaborated in the war against

Hitler.

He remained a Member of

Parliament until the general election of 1964, when he did

not seek re-election. 

Were victorious against the Nazis, as

the government formed with national

rally, I assure the cooperation of political

opponents.

The United States President Kennedy in 1963 awarded

him U.S. citizenship.

LITERARY CAREER

Began with campaign reports

He Story of the Malakand Field

Force(1898) and The River War (1899), an

account of the campaign in the

Sudan and the Battle of Omdurman.

His other famous biography, the life of his great ancestor,

the Duke of Marlborough, was published in four volumes between 1933 and 1938.

A gifted amateur painter, wrote Painting as a

Pastime (1948).
