A�er a gap of few years, I am pleased to re-launch our newsletter. We plan to have this on a bi-annual basis. So, where are we today? Our journey has begun. A journey towards taking you to the next level of services, products and standards.

We started as a Vehicle Tracking Company (VTC) and now VTC only accounts for 30% of our revenues. This is a sign of success and not failure, it signifies changing needs, how technology is changing and where innovation is happening. In order to be on the top, we need to constantly innovate and build on our brand equity by not compromising on quality and standards.

TPL Trakker has teamed up with a leader in RFID and Container tracking, Global Trak, and has developed a sophisticated and groundbreaking container tracking solution which is preferred globally as well as in Pakistan for management, control and tracking of container shipments.

Corporate Security Conference -Karachi

TPL Trakker held its Corporate Security Conference 2011 in Karachi at Pearl Continental Hotel on 17th Feb 2011. The conference entailed information about TPL Trakker’s innovative new products and the future developments they had to offer its stakeholders to further enhance their services. This is in line with TPL’s policy of sharing information, with the stakeholders pertaining to the latest security measures, crime patterns, business concerns and good practices which lead to enhanced efficiency. A panel of distinguished professionals from TPL Trakker’s top customers were formed to share their expertise and practices with meaningful advice. The hall was full with nearly 500 executives of the corporate world, financial institutions and other industries but more importantly the Auto Industry.

The proceedings of the event began with a welcome note and presentation on TPL Trakker’s past performance as well as new product developments. It was then followed by a speech by Mr. Ahsan Sarwar, Executive Director – TPL Trakker who introduced the all new Trakker Nav to the guests and emphasized the exquisite functionality developed by TPL Trakker’s comprehensive GIS department.

The panel of experts and their presentations were as follows:

• Mr. Jameel Yusuf SSt., Chairman – TPL Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd “Present day crime trends and their preventive measures.”

• Col (R) Masood Siddiq, Corporate Security Manager - ICI Pakistan “An insight on present day Security Measures taken up at ICI. How Trakker supports ICI’s initiatives and adds to their level of

• Mr. Asim Shakoor, Director Corporate Affairs – Shakoor & Co. “Use of Fleet Management for cargo security, timely transportation, driver and road safety as a corporate responsibility.”

• Mr. Saad Nissar, CEO – TPL Direct Insurance “How customer convenience and satisfaction played a major part in TPL Direct Insurance’s phenomenal success with its direct

insurance concept and how TPL Trakker’s services have helped the insurance industry in minimizing losses.”

• Mr. Saud Mirza, Additional IG – Sindh Police “Use of modern technology to combat crime, help detection and increase the efficiency of the Sindh Police.”

A�er the speeches and presentations the honorable panelists answered the audience’s questions. The Q & A session was followed by lunch to conclude the highly successful event.

The sole purpose of this conference was to bring TPL stakeholders on a common platform with experts in various fields so they may have an insight on business practices and security concerns.




10 Year Celebrations - Lahore

TPL Trakker celebrated 10 years of service in Northern region operations. TPL Trakker opened its first regional office in Lahore in the year 2001 and since then has extended its presence in the region with more branches in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. The event’s agenda also included the commemoration of a decade long tenure of Lt. Col. (R) Khurram Saleem Rana who had become an integral part of the TPL family due to the extraordinary skills, commitment and continuous hard work. His decade long service is now a benchmark for all our personnel. We bid him a fond farewell on his retirement.

The celebration took place at PC Lahore on 12th May 2011 where owners of 3S dealerships and non-3S dealerships, senior executives of the corporate sector and banking industry as well as representatives of leading travel agencies were present. The attendees were given a run down by Mr. Ahsan Sarwar, Executive Director -TPL Trakker on the company’s operations in Pakistan. He also introduced new products and initiatives of the company.

Mr. Saad Nissar, CEO-TPL Direct Insurance, spoke on the growth and future prospects of TPL Direct Insurance and also emphasized the importance of an exquisite relationship with customers and all its stakeholders.

Next Mr. Ali Jameel took the stage to thank all business partners for their contribution to TPL Trakker’s success. He also praised the services of Lt. Col. (R) Rana. Mr. Jameel mentioned that Lt. Col. (R) Rana’s major achievements including the development of the company’s Northern region branches at Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala. During Lt. Col. (R) Rana’s 10 year tenure, this region grew from zero to 18000 satisfied customers with over 100 employees. Managing the operations at both the micro and macro level, he proved to be an exceptional trainer and mentor for his staff. A�erwards plaques were distributed among the partners with whom TPL Trakker enjoyed phenomenal relationships during the ten years of operations and Lt. Col. (R) Khurram Rana was also given a commemorating memento on his retirement.

Recent Strategic Alliances

Milestones

TPL Direct Insurance and UBL form Strategic AllianceTPL Direct Insurance and UBL inked an agreement whereby UBL has taken TDI on its panel to provide Motor insurance to UBL financed vehicles.

TPL Direct Insurance and Standard Chartered form Strategic AllianceTPL Direct Insurance and Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Ltd. (SCB) also inked an agreement forming a strategic alliance whereby all SCB deposit and credit customers will now be eligible for an exclusive discount of 15% on insurance premium with TPL Direct Auto Insurance products and a 25% discount on EVAC annual membership fee. The alliance enables SCB customers to now avail the most competitive Auto Insurance rates in the market.

TPL Direct Insurance’s IPO was a huge success. The total IPO amount was Rs.150 Million with a total issue size of 15,000,000 ordinary shares. 10,000,000 shares were offered through the Book Building process to institutional investors as well as high networth individual investors which took place on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2011 while the remaining 5,000,000 shares were offered to the General Public. This is another milestone for TPL Insurance which is poised for success and growth.

TDI was the runner-up in the cricket tournament organized by IAP for its member companies. 16 companies participated in the event which started on 5th March and ended on 27th March, 2011.

Interesting Recoveriesthat highlight TPL Security Services’ commitment in recovering stolen vehicles, goods and assets,apprehending thieves as well as setting a benchmark in security services.

In March 2011 a Hino truck was in transit to Mirpur Sakro from Karachi and was highjacked. It had been transporting a load of 22,000 hatchlings and the highjackers must have had a fair estimation of the worth of the load, which was valued at Rs. 880,000, but made no account of the security system installed in the vehicle.

TPL security team tracked the vehicle to an empty plot which was used primarily for palm trees plantation. Three highjackers were then taken into custody and handed over to the relevant authorities. The safe recovery of 22,000 hatchlings bears a lot of significance to both, TPL Security Services and the owner of the vehicle.

March witnessed another successful recovery by TPL Security Services of a Mazda truck with a load containing 192 cartons of cigarettes valued at Rs. 2.45 million.

The vehicle which was highjacked near Dherki Road, Rohri, Sindh and recovered soon a�er a few miles away near Puranabad, Larkana, Sindh on March 28, 2011 exemplifies the quick response and action time of TPL Security Services and as the pictures tesitify, our Response Team works round the clock to ensure our customers’ well being and the safety of their fleet.

At 0300 hrs in the morning, a TDI insured Scania truck was transporting 30 cans which contained 40 litres of milk each, when it was intercepted and highjacked near Janjal Goth, Sabzi Mandi, Karachi. The quick response of the TPL security team ensured that all 30 cans of milk were recovered from Mil Mandi, near Badin bus stop.

Centrepoint is currently in construction stage with 23 floors completed. The construction is expected to be completed by June 2012.
