The 1960s rocked our world and helped shape our country as well as our community. Thousand Oaks became a city in 1964. Come explore the decade with faculty from California Lutheran University at a special lecture series to be presented at Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road. Each program will feature a different topic relevant to the ‘60s and will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The MobilePrint Service enables patrons to print at the library and remotely from smartphones, tablets and computers then pick-up their print jobs at the library. Patrons can choose to print with one of the following three methods:

• Emailing documents to the unique email address of the designated

library location

• Using one of the mobile printing apps for iOS and Android devices

EnvisionWare MobilePrintTM Serviceis arriving at the Thousand Oaks Library

• Uploading documents to a customized web-printing portal

MobilePrint Service TM was developed in partnership with PrinterOn®, the world’s largest cloud-based printing service. Printing remotely or in the library will be the same cost at $0.15 for black and white and $0.50 for color.

The Conejo Valley Film Festival is dedicated to this area’s fi lmmaking heritage showcasing movies representing locations around the world but shot right here in the Conejo Valley. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road. These fi lms are free and open to the public.

1:00 pm - “Davy Crockett- King of the Wild Frontier” (1955, 93 min., Disney) stars Fess Parker, Buddy Ebsen. Legends from the life of famed American frontiersman Davey Crockett are depicted in this feature fi lm edited from television episodes. Crockett and his friend George Russell fi ght in the Creek Indian War. Then Crockett is elected to Congress and brings his rough-hewn ways to the House of Representatives.

3:00 pm - “Old Yeller” (1957, 83 min., Disney) stars Dorothy McGuire, Fess Parker, and Tommy Kirk. It is about a boy and a stray dog in post-Civil War Texas. It is based upon the 1956 Newbery Honor-winning book of the same name by Fred Gipson.

The Thousand Oaks Library Foundation was established in 1983 as a non-profi t organization committed to supporting and enhancing special projects for the Thousand Oaks Library. Serving as the recipient for special collectibles and monetary donations to the library, the Foundation has provided funding for special, hard-to-fi nd or costly library materials and equipment. The Foundation also funds special collections including the Local History Collection and the American Radio Archives. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised in excess of $1.5 million for the Thousand Oaks Library.

Brainfuse HelpNow! offers live, online homework help from a Brainfuse tutor daily from 1:00 - 10:00 p.m.Includes skills-building services to helpstudents master a concept through tutoring and state-aligned online lessons, a 24/7 Help Center for students to submit a homework question that is answered by a tutor within 24 hours, a Writing Lab where students can receive editing feedback and help, and a Language Lab. Students also can prepare for exams using practice tests, create their own flashcards and multiple choice quizzes for self-study on both computers and mobile devices. Brainwave is a tool that allows you to record a movie of your activity on the Brainfuse whiteboard, whether it’s for solving a problem or for a fun presentation.

In this wonderful musical program full of new and traditional participatory songs for preschoolers and the whole family, Ken Frawley, one of the leaders in interactive music programs, demonstrates how to move and play-along to songs.

Audiences will be treated to traditional songs like “I Had Me a Rooster” and “She’ll be Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain.” They then will have fun with songs like “Whales, Whales, Whales” and “I’m Thinking of an Animal.” Audiences will have to use their imaginations to make up sounds, words, rhymes, and use their bodies to clap-along, sing-along, and move-along to Ken’s collection of playful songs. �

Fried–Out Features productions will perform a delightful radio theatre version of “It’s A Wonderful Life” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 14 at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 Janss Road. “It’s a Wonderful Life”-- a radio drama, adapted by Philip Grecian and based on the fi lm by Frank Capra, is the story of George Bailey, the unsung, beloved hero of Bedford Falls, an American holiday classic.

Ten actors will recreate the radio broadcast at the Library using authentic sound effects from the Thousand Oaks Library’s American Radio Archives to recreate the sound and feel of the Golden Age of Radio of the early 1940s. The library is internationally recognized as the number one repository of Golden Age Radio collections in the United States.

Fried-Out Features Productions creates live plays, audio theater and radio productions in and around eastern Ventura County. The production company was co-founded in 1972 by Steve Carlson and Terry Sciarrino. Their

work has been played on NPR Station KCLU at 88.3FM.

They have also presented full-blown musical melodramas at Moorpark’s High Street Arts Center, as well as performing an award-winning recreation of “War of the Worlds” at the Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks. Their radio series “Buddy Shell, Metaphysical Private Investigator” and movie “Rex Bravo, the Whistling Cowboy” can both be enjoyed on YouTube.

This program is free and open to the public. It is produced by special arrangement with THE DRAMATIC PUBLISHING COMPANY of Woodstock, Illinois. �
