The Battle Of Bunker Hill

The Battle of Bunker Hill took place June 17 ,1775 on the Charlestown peninsula. This was the first official battle of the Revolutionary War.

Rebel Israel Putnam

• Rebel Israel Putnam barked the famous command to his men “do not shoot until you see the whites of their eyes”

• Putnam was born on January 7,1718 and died on May 29,1790.

Interesting Facts

• The British didn't want to fight the Colonist, they wanted them to retreat.

• By the end of the battle, the Colonist had ran out of ammo and fired glass, and rocks at the British.

General William Howe

• Howe was born on August 10, 1729 and died on July 12 1814

• He was in British army from 1746-1803
