Captain Ta’Kor

“Sir, you have an incoming transmission from Starfleet command.”Ta’Kor nodded to the Bolian officer, “I’ll take it in my readycommand chair, “Commander Mizen, you have the bridge.”Ta’Kor knew full well what Starfleet command wanted, they had contacted him during his staffbriefing and outlined for him what was in the works, still Ta’Kor was notto come, it took every ounce of will power that he possessed, not to throw a chair at themonitor after command had finished informing him of what they were planning.

Activating his monitor, Admiralwith a nod. “Captain, how things on the Leviathan?” Ta’Kor face hardened, why these Starfleettypes insisted on going through these mundane pleasantries instead of gettingbusiness at hand was something Ta’Kor could never understand; at least with Klingonpleasantries, they were anything but mundane.“Admiral, with all due respect, you did not contact me about the welfare of this ship, you haveour reports, so let us skip with these pointless pleasyour contacting me.”

Nechayev bristled, “I know how you feel about thnecessary arrangements for your possible departure as we discussed earlier?” Ta’Kor nodded,

“Sir, you have an incoming transmission from Starfleet command.”Ta’Kor nodded to the Bolian officer, “I’ll take it in my ready room” he said as he stood from thecommand chair, “Commander Mizen, you have the bridge.”Ta’Kor knew full well what Starfleet command wanted, they had contacted him during his staffbriefing and outlined for him what was in the works, still Ta’Kor was not happy with what wasto come, it took every ounce of will power that he possessed, not to throw a chair at themonitor after command had finished informing him of what they were planning.

Activating his monitor, Admiral Nechayev appeared on screen, “Admiral.” He acknowledgedwith a nod. “Captain, how things on the Leviathan?” Ta’Kor face hardened, why these Starfleet

“Than I take it Starfleet command has come to the decision to precede with this worthlessexercise after all.” Ta’Kor growled. Ignoring Ta’Kor’s observation, Nechayev continued,“Captain, I regret to inform you that a decision has been reached; you and your first officer areordered to return to Deep Space Nine, there we will hold an inquiry on your suitability as aCaptain in Starfleet, pending these results, you will turn command of the Leviathan over to yoursecond officer. A ship will be by within the hour to bring you to DS9.”

“This is a waste of time.” Ta’Kor spat, “And why must my first officer join, is he underinvestigation as well?”Nechayev shook her head, “No Captain, Commander Mizen will be coming in for questioningand to give us his report on you.”“Me?” Ta’Kor asked incredulously “Explain.”“Commander Mizen was given the assignment to observe and report your command, social andethical behaviour.”

“Why?” Ta’Kor asked angrily, “I spent two years going through some Federation orientationprogram just so Starfleet could make certain my ‘Klingon ways’ would not interfere with mycommand of a ship, what more could you want?.”“I’m sorry Captain, but those are the orders, we’re only trying to do what’s best for theFederation, now if that is all, I must be on my way to Deep space nine, Nechayev out.”

Ta’Kor slammed his fist on his table, as he walked past it to gather his belongings. If he is foundunfit to command in Starfleet, than this venture would only serve to bring shame anddishonour to his house. Chancellor Martok would not be forgiving of such an act, he being sofriendly towards the Federation would surely remove the house of KoH from power if thisdishonour were to happen. Ta’Kor again felt the need to hit something. Slamming his fistrepeatedly into the bulkhead and ignoring the shark cracking sound and the accompanying painfrom his fist, Ta’Kor continued only to stop at the sight of the imprint of blood that began tosmear the bulkhead in front of him.

Looking at his bloodied and broken fist, Ta’Kor smiled; maybe it’s for the best. If I were back ona Klingon ship, I would wrap my fist and let it be; but here I am making my way to the shipssickbay.

Stepping into a Turbolift, Ta’Kor tapped his comm. badge with his good hand, “Ta’Kor toLieutenant Verr.”

Verr acknowledged the Captain's communication, putting his microscope down, he tapped hisbadge "Go ahead, Captain."

“Lieutenant, Commander Mizen and I are going to be leaving for Deep Space Nine within thehour; a ship is on its way now to take us there. You are now in command of the Leviathan untilour return.”

"Very well, Captain" Verr was surprised at the immediacy of his new position but his Breenmono-tonic voice hid his shock "For how long will you be gone.

“That is entirely up to the Admiralty.” Ta’Kor scoffed, “Besides, operating this close to Breenspace, it might help to have you in command. Ta’Kor out.”By the time Ta’Kor closed the channel, he found himself entering sickbay. Let’s just get this overwith. He thought, not knowing if “this” was referring to his attitude towards the use ofFederation medicine or Starfleets inquiry on his captaincy.
