INTRODUCTION
Women safety has always been one of the top priorities of the society. The nature of
women safety related problem have changed with the changing mores and norms in
society especially in an overgrowing and over changing society
The public protest against this social evil, however is only two decades old. This is not to
say that it went utterly un-remarked upon in history. Rather the fact is that the victims
have been silent and unheard protestors
Law enforcement agencies all over the world are taking problem of violence againstwomen very seriously as violence against women is universal. Be it within the confines
of home or in the public sphere, VAW has been observed ,documented and tolerated
by societies all across the globe

CHALLENGES AND RISK
Initially the response of the police officers will not be very forthcoming;
therefore, it is decided to further sensitize them about this issue
Protection of the volunteers and members of the NGO
Lack of cooperation from the society including women
Reluctance of victim to come forward against the crime
Indifference of the non-victims at the crime scene
Uncertainty of generating funds
Participation of other agencies such as Social Welfare Department, Health
Department, etc. needs to be enhanced

CONCLUSION
We cannot change the basic structures of society overnight. But each
step in the ongoing effort to eradicate violence puts more pressure on
those who condone the violence and allow it to exist. No single
government , agencies or civil society can hope to have an impact by
working in isolation alone. Pooling resources, sharing strengths and
knowledge will allow end-violence efforts to move to the next level.
Hence, the fight against the sexual assault in society is the joint
responsibility of community, neighborhood, family, civil society, media,
education system, criminal justice system, and the government
