What is the Poltava Youth
Leadership Conference?
The PYLC is a 5 day
conference for 50 pupils
entering the 10th and
11th form (2012-13
school year).
What is the Poltava Youth
Leadership Conference?
The 50 pupils are
recruited from all 25
districts of the Poltava
Oblast.
This year’s conference
will include a master
class for 10 returning
students (from PYLC
2011), who will serve as
junior counselors.

Pupils will
experience
leadership
through:
- interactive
lessons
- team-building
games
- volunteerism
- a fundraising
project.

The program
focuses on:
- project design
and management
- leadership
- volunteerism
- teamwork
What is the Poltava Youth
Leadership Conference?
The PYLC curriculum is
taught in native language
by young, energetic
Ukrainians aged 18-24 with
the help of Peace Corps
Volunteers.
The Ukrainian Trainers and
PCVs lead team activities
and serve as mentors and
examples for the student
conference attendees.
What is the Poltava Youth
Leadership Conference?
The PYLC is not an
intensive English Camp,
though English is
sometimes used.
It is a youth leadership
conference.
All classes and
activities are presented
in native language.
Why we are here…
We are looking
for 12 - 14 young,
energetic
Ukrainian
Trainers to teach
lessons and lead
the various team
activities.
More Information
All Ukrainian Trainers should have a
basic conversational understanding of
English, but fluency is not required.
This is a volunteer position.
Most conference expenses -
transportation, food and lodging - will be
reimbursed.
More Information
Staff members must:
• Attend one day staff training in May.
• All staff trainings will be presented in
English along with translation into
native language.
• Come to Poltava on July 2, the day
before the conference starts for
preparation.
