The Badjaos re born in the sea.They are sometimes called sea-gypsies.They live in tiny houseboats that move withthe wind and tide.Their skin and hair turn brown due to theheat of the sun and the saltiness of the sea.They have very low incomesTheir children do not have the opportunity togo to school.

Ivatans live in Batanes island.

They are known to be peaceful people

They are found in the Ilocos region.They are farmers planting rice, onion, garlic,vegetables, cotton, and tobacco.They are good fisherfolk.They are known as hardworking and thrifty.

They live in Bicol region.Bicol has lots of typhoons.They are known for their spicy-hot food.A very popular Bicolano food is laing, avegtetable dish cooked with a lot of chiliand coconut milk.The pili nut is also found in the Bicol region.

They are admired for their beautiful songsand dances.Thy are also famous for their skills inweaving, furniture making, and embroidery.The Cebuanos are the first people to

becomeChritians.It was in Mactan island where FerdinandMagellan first landed in the Philippines.

The Tausug are traders, fisherfolk, andartisans of fine Muslim textiles and metalweaponry.Thy live in the Sulu archipelago, mainly in

Jolo island.

The Maranao are known as the graceful “people

of the lake”.They live along Lake Lanao.The malong (tubular dress) and the colorfulnagas (serpent figures) are mafde by theMaranaos.They are also famous for their fine brass jarsand urns and their okir artwork (carving).

The master architects of the world-famousrice terraces are the Ifugao.The Ifugaos make beautiful sculptures ofwooden rice-god figures called bulol.They are also known for their beautifulbaskets and tie-dyed blankets from naturalfiber.
