Almighty and everlasting God,

First Reading – Acts 5.12-16
Many signs and wonders were done among the people through the apostles. And they were all together in Solomon’s Portico. None of the rest dared to join them, but the people held them in high esteem. Yet more than ever believers were added to the
Lord, great numbers of both men and women, so that they even carried out the sick into the streets, and laid them on cots and mats, in order that Peter’s shadow might fall
on some of them as he came by. A great number of people would also gather from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing the sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and
they were all cured.
Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 4.9-15
I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, as though sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to mortals. We are
fools for the sake of Christ, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honour, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we are
hungry and thirsty, we are poorly clothed and beaten and homeless, and we grow

weary from the work of our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted,
we endure; when slandered, we speak kindly. We have become like the rubbish of the world, the dregs of all things, to this very day. I am not writing this to make you
ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you might have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers. Indeed, in Christ
Jesus I became your father through the gospel.

WALK RUTLAND FOR JESUS
Churches & Villages of Rutland
Walk Rutland has been walking the land
and sharing the gospel in the villages of Rutland. Walk Rutland calls us to walk
together and share fellowship as we walk. It is an opportunity to talk about God with friends and strangers. Walk
Rutland is supporting the Churches that already exist in the villages, and is grateful
for the welcome received from them.
After a week walking around the water,
we continue from Oakham to Langham and Whissendine on Tuesday, Exton to Greetham on Thursday, Wing to
Barrowden on Saturday, and finish with a celebration service at Uppingham
Methodist Church on Sunday 31 August at 2:30pm.

Brooke Church, is followed by a talk on the church at 12:15pm and a
chance to view the 17th Century Book of Common Prayer. After some
time to explore the church and village we move to Braunston, with lunch at
the Old Plough (if pre-booked). At 3:30pm there will be a talk about Braunston Church, followed at
4:30pm by Evensong and Compline. For details and to book

pick up a leaflet in church. The services will be sung by members of
Laudamus, joined by other choir members from the Deanery – music
will include Tallis’s anthem ‘If ye love me’, and a faux-bourdon setting of the

Recycle for Fairtrade
Traidcraft have been raising funds by
recycling unwanted items of jewellery and have so far raised over £16000!
They are now able to take old/foreign banknotes as well - if you would like
to take part in this worthwhile scheme please contact Denise (01572
722729), who can supply pre-paid envelopes to send donations directly
to Fairtrade, or you can give items to her when the stall is in church.
If anyone is running Fairtrade in
the village churches, or if there is anyone who would be interested in
doing so, Denise would very much like to hear from you.

Stewardship 2014
We will be holding our triennial
Stewardship Campaign at Oakham this autumn. This will be an opportunity for
everyone, both old and new members, to review their planned giving in
support of the church. More details will follow, but please note 21 September
in your diary, when there will be a presentation at all three services.
Rutland Foodbank
The Foodbank now opens regularly at the back of 40 Melton Road, Oakham
(behind Rutland Radio, opposite Jules One-Stop) on Monday & Wednesday
(1pm-3pm) and Friday (10am-12pm). We are grateful for your continuing support – please bring donations of
food to the collection points in all of our churches – we are currently short
of instant mash and sponge puddings!

We would like to make sure that our list of contact details, and in particular
email addresses is up-to-date. If your email address has changed since you
gave it to us on the electoral roll renewal, or if you have acquired one
since or didn’t give it then, we would be glad if you could email it to
Lee – 10 Years
In September, Lee will have been at All
Saints for 10 years and we would like to celebrate this with him. Any contributions
for this would be greatly appreciated –

We would like to share with you a

and Expedia, you could raise money for All Saints Oakham, without adding
to the cost of the shopping.
Currently we only have five people signed up – there must be more of
you who shop online! It is easy to sign up – go to

All Saints Flower Guild
All Saints Flower Guild are looking for
new members to join them to help decorate the church for various
festivals throughout the year. Previous experience of flower arranging is not
necessary. Anyone with some experience would be very welcome to
