These songs were recorded in 1963 and 1964; material from these sessions appeared brieflyon Canada's Rebel label, as well as Piedmont. The mood is late-night informal, although there'slittle, if anything, in the Hurt catalog that could not be called informal. It's not as forceful,perhaps, as his best-known recordings, and some of the songs are duplicated on otherreleases, but the sound quality (despite the destruction of the master tape) is OK, and Hurt fanswill almost certainly find it to their liking.
