This project is a sweet, easy intermediate, thread lace afghan featuring lacy dragonflies. The baby afghan is made in one piece and bordered with crocheted shell stitch. Be sure to read the entire booklet before beginning. Making a test swatch is always a wise choice. SIZE / MATERIALS Baby Dragonflies Blanket measures approximately 25” x 29”. It is made in one piece and bordered with crocheted shell stitch. Materials for baby afghan: 2 skeins Loops & Threads Snuggly Wuggly baby sport synthetic yarn plus Tamm Estilo on a cone filament (fingering weight) synthetic yarn (or alternatively 2 strands of serger thread may be used). You can make this blanket with one skein, and only need part of the second skein for shell crochet border. The cone yarn may be purchased online or through a machine knitting dealer and would last for several thread lace projects. For best results, an exact color match of the two yarns is necessary or fingering weight yarn may be darker. Use #5 knitting needles. . THREAD LACE TECHNIQUE What is thread lace? With this lovely technique, cast-on is with the 2 yarns held together, one yarn a worsted weight or sport yarn of your choice, along with a fingering weight or alternatively 2 strands of serger thread. Every stitch is knitted with both yarns except, where designated on foll graph, knit with the fingering weight yarn or serger thread only, dropping the heavier yarn behind on knit rows and in front on purl rows – this is what creates the lacy look.
