Willenbrock Herr Schmalhorst, Ihr Credo lautet „Every space deserves great light“. Wofür genau steht es eigentlich�? Mr. Schmalhorst, your mission statement says�: “Every space deserves great light”. What does that actually mean�? Schmalhorst Ganz einfach�: Es gibt viele ästhetische, ideenreiche und faszinierende Leuchten – aber seltsamerweise kaum für draußen. Dabei ist der Außenbereich das Erste, was man von einem Zuhause, einer repräsentativen Immobilie oder einem Unternehmenssitz wahrnimmt. Es ist auch jener Platz, an dem wir viele der schönsten Stunden des Jahres verbringen. Wir fi nden, das ist Grund genug, ihm ein paar wirklich außergewöhnliche Licht-blicke zu gönnen. It’s quite simple. There are lots of aesthetic, imaginative and fascinating lamps. But, strangely enough, scarcely any for outside. And yet it is the outside of a home, prestigious building or company headquarters that a visitor sees fi rst of all. Outside is where we spend many of the happiest hours of the year. Reason enough, we think, to give the outside a few really unusual bright spots.

W Dabei setzen Sie neuerdings verstärkt auf LED-Technologie – allein in diesem Jahr präsentiert IP44.de fünf weitere LED-Leuchtenmodelle.Recently you have also been making increasing use of LED technology: this year alone, IP44.de is presenting fi ve additional LED lamp models.S Als wir Anfang des Jahres 2009 unsere ersten IvyLight©-Leuchten präsentierten, wussten wir einfach noch nicht, wie der Markt diese Neuheit aufnehmen würde. Glücklicherweise waren die Reaktionen sehr positiv, sodass wir unser Sortiment jetzt um weitere, hochinter-essante IvyLights© erweitern. When we launched our fi rst IvyLight© lamps at the start of 2009, we simply didn’t know how the market would react to this new product. Fortunately, the reactions were very positive so that we are now adding further highly interesting IvyLights© to our range.

W Was zeichnet Ihre Neuheiten 2010 aus�?What makes your new 2010 products stand out�?S Mit como haben wir eine sehr ausgewogene, puristische Leuchte gestaltet, die sich durch ihre zurückhaltende Quaderform angenehm jeder Umgebung anpasst. Gleichzeitig spendet sie durch ihre Linsenoptik ein fokussiertes, pointiertes Licht. Und mit IvyLight©-technology trägt sie die besten verfügbaren LED-Komponenten in sich. como hat damit die allerbesten Voraussetzungen, zu einem modernen Klassiker von morgen zu werden. mox #�1 und mox #�2 sind Schwestern unserer erfolgreichen mox #�3, die ja, dank ihrer sechs integrierten LEDs, ein kräftiges Lumenpaket in sich trägt – kräftiger, als es an manchen Einsatzorten benötigt wird. Mit mox #�1 haben wir die Zahl der LEDs daher auf jeweils ein Up- und Downlight reduziert und in einen schlanken, schmalen Korpus gefasst. mox #�2 verfügt über vier LEDs und damit etwa die doppelte Lichtstärke von mox #�1. And IvyLight©-technology gives it the very best LED components available today. como therefore has all it takes to become a modern classic lamp for tomorrow. mox #�1 and mox #�2 are the sisters of our successful mox #�3 which has six integrated LEDs for a powerful lumen package – more than some applications actually need. And so in mox #�1 we have reduced the number of LEDs to just one uplight and one downlight, now housed in a slim, narrow body. mox #�2 has four LEDs, giving it about twice the luminous intensity of mox #�1. Just like como, mox #�2 is also available in our new bronze noir colour shade�: a dark chocolate bronze shade which sets a perfect accent to facades made of sandstone, timber, clinker and other natural materials.

Why�?S Weil scap und quantum dieser Tage ihren zehnten Geburtstag feiern und wir heute über Licht-technologien verfügen, dank derer sie weitaus effi zienter arbeiten können. Standardmäßig bieten wir diese Bestseller ab sofort mit einer Niedervolt-Technik an, die bei höherer Lichtaus-beute 60 % sparsamer ist als die herkömmliche Hochvolt-Variante. Unserer Produktphilosophie entsprechend lassen sich die meisten scap- und quantum-Leuchten problemlos nachrüsten, übrigens auch mit IvyLight©-technology. In dieser Ausführung sparen scap und quantum 75 % der Energie gegenüber der Hochvolt-Bestückung und halten 20�-�mal so lange.Because scap and quantum are currently celebrating their tenth birthday – and because light technologies are available today to make them far more effi cient. IvyLight© stands for absolutely brilliant, effi cient and at the same time durable LED outside light.

W Warum ist das so�? Can you explain why�? S Weil wir für IvyLight© nicht konventionelle Leuchten mit konventionellen LED-Komponenten bestückt, sondern sie von Grund auf neu konzipiert haben. So haben wir die Platine jedes Modells individuell getuned und damit die Voraussetzung für maximale Lichtleistung bei hoher Lebens-dauer geschaff en. Je niedriger die Temperatur, desto effi zienter und schonender ihr Betrieb. It’s because we don’t use conventional lamps with conventional LED components in our IvyLight© products, but have given them a completely new concept. The PCB for every single model has been individually tuned to create the necessary prerequisites for maximum light output with a long service life. Each lamp operates more gently and effi ciently, the lower the temperature.

W Ein Stichwort, das neuerdings häufi g fällt, lautet Degradation. Was ist darunter zu verstehen�? One particular catchword that can be heard frequently just now is degradation. What does that mean�? S Der Degradation-Prozess bezeichnet den natürlichen Leistungsabfall, der bei jeder LED früher oder später zu beobachten ist. In Geschwindigkeit und Ausmaß aber gibt es erhebliche Unter-schiede. Wir umgeben unsere LEDs mit einem Technologiepaket, das den Degradation-Prozess so weit wie möglich verlangsamt. In einem Gehäuse mit schlechtem Wärmemanagement hingegen verläuft der Degradation-Prozess wesentlich schneller. Im ungünstigsten Fall liefert eine brillante LED nach wenigen Monaten nur noch einen Bruchteil ihrer ursprünglichen Leistung. The degradation process refers to the natural decline in output which can be seen sooner or later in every LED. But there are considerable diff erences in the speed and extent to which this happens. We surround our LEDs with a technology package that slows the degradation process down as far as possible. By contrast, the degradation process in a housing with poor heat management will take place much more quickly. In the worst case, after just a few months the output of a brilliant LED will be reduced to just a fraction.

W Wenn sich die Lichtleistung von LEDs aber im Laufe der Zeit verändert�: Wie kann man bei Ergänzung oder Ersatz von Leuchten dennoch ein einheitliches Licht-Bild an der Fassade erreichen�?But if the light output of LEDs changes over time, how can we sustain a uniform lighting eff ect for the facade of a building when adding or replacing lamps�?S Weil wir unsere Platinen selbst entwickeln, können wir die Lichtleistung neuer IvyLights© auf jene der vorhandenen einstellen. Mit zugekauften Standardkomponenten wäre ein solch individueller Off set-Abgleich nicht möglich. We develop our own PCBs which means that we can adjust the light output of new IvyLights© to what's already there. Standard purchased components have no scope for this kind of individual off set adjustment.

W Was bedeutet das für den Einsatz im Garten oder an Fassaden�?What does this mean for lamps used in the garden or on a building facade�?S Mit IvyLight©-technology erreichen wir höchste Lichtqualität, maximale Lebensdauer und fünfmal höhere Lumenstromwerte als mit einer Halogenbestückung. Wärmetechnisch optimierte Aluminiumgehäuse sowie Platinen mit einem Kern aus hochleitfähigem Aluminium sorgen dafür, dass die Abwärme der LEDs auch ohne zusätz-liche Kühlkörper zuverlässig abgeführt wird. Bei überhöhten Umgebungstemperaturen (z.B. durch extre-me Sonneneinstrahlung) regelt ein Sensor die Lichtleistung dynamisch herunter. Damit wird die potentielle Lebensdauer der LEDs deutlich verlängert.

Reicht die dynamische Wärmeregulierung nicht aus, sorgt eine ESO-Komponente für eine schonende Komplettab-schaltung der IvyLight©-Platine.

Mit steigender Betriebstemperatur an der LED fällt der Lichtstrom automatisch ab. IvyLights© verfügen über eine dynamische Steuerung der Junction-Temperatur. Dadurch wird das Derating (Leistungsabfall) optimiert und eine konstante Lichtstärke gewährleistet

IvyLights© sind für eine möglichst natürliche Farbwieder-gabe optimiert. Mit einem Farbwiedergabeindex CRI 80 liegt ihre Farbauthentizität deutlich über jener von Energiesparleuchten.

IvyLights© erzeugen bei 3300 Kelvin einen Lichtstrom von bis zu 65 Lumen/Watt – Werte, wie sie sonst allenfalls im Kaltweiß-Bereich erreicht werden. Und dennoch wirkt die Lichtfarbe einer IvyLight© genauso warm-weiß und brillant wie jene einer Halogenlampe.

Für IvyLight© verwenden wir ausschließlich LEDs der höchsten Selektion im Binning und beugen Lichtfarb-schwankungen auf der Platine vor. IvyLights© stehen damit für gleichbleibende Lichtfarbe und maximale Planungssicherheit.

IvyLights© are optimized so that the colour rendering is as natural as possible. With a colour rendering index of CRI 80, their colour authenticity is far superior to that of energy saving lamps.

At 3300 Kelvin, IvyLights© generate a luminous fl ux of up to 65 lumen/watt – values otherwise only achieved in the cold-white range. And yet the spectral colour of an IvyLight© is just as warm-white and brilliant as that of any halogen lamp.

Our IvyLights© are equipped only with LEDs from the highest binning selection, thus preventing fl uctuations in spectral colour on the PCB. IvyLights© therefore stand for constant spectral colour and maximum planning reliability.

Herzstück der IvyLight©-Platine ist eine 4 Watt/230V Hochvolt-LED mit 65 Lumen/Watt. Durch den direkten Betrieb mit 230 Volt Netzspannung entfallen anfällige Ansteuertechniken�; Leistungsverluste werden vermieden.

Durch intelligente Beschaltung der Platine und ein aus-gewogenes Wärmemanagement verlangsamen wir den Degradation-Prozess (�Alterung�) der LED deutlich.

Jeder IvyLight©-Korpus verfügt über ein spezifi sches Kühlpotenzial. Und weil das so ist, begrenzen wir die Junction-Temperatur jedes Modells individuell durch seine Bestromung. Auf diese Weise kombinieren wir höchste Lichtleistung mit maximaler Lebensdauer.

Bei Ergänzung oder Austausch einer IvyLight© stimmen wir die Beschaltung der neuen Platine durch spezielle Resistoren auf jene der vorhandenen ab. Ergebnis�: ein stets einheitliches, abgestimmtes Licht-Bild an der Fassade.

Aluminium housings with optimized heat management and PCBs with a highly conductive aluminium core ensure that the waste heat emitted by the LEDs is reliably dissipated even without an additional heat sink. And the PCB and lamp body are thermally connected in such a way as to protect the LED from overheating.

When high ambient temperatures are generated (�by extreme sunshine for example�), a sensor dynamically reduces the light output, considerably prolonging the potential service life of the LEDs.

If the dynamic heat adjustment is no longer suffi cient, an ESO component is responsible for gentle total shutdown of the IvyLight© PCB.

The luminous fl ux decreases automatically when the LED operating temperature rises. IvyLights© are equipped with dynamic control of the junction temperature. This optimizes derating (decline in output) and warrants a constant luminous intensity.

We develop a specially optimized PCB layout for every IvyLight© model. The electronic components and output are rated individually in view of the thermal properties of the LED and lamp body.

The heart of the IvyLight© PCB is a 4 watt/230V high-volt LED with 65 lumen/watt. It is directly operated with 230V mains voltage so that it manages without delicate activation components, thus avoiding output losses.

Intelligent PCB circuitry and balanced heat management clearly slow down the degradation process (ageing) of the LED.

Each IvyLight© body has a specifi c cooling potential. And so we limit the junction temperature of each model individually through its current feed. This combines the highest light output with the maximum service life.

When adding or replacing an IvyLight©, we use special resistors to adjust the current feed of the new PCB to the existing modules. This results in a constantly uniform, attuned lighting eff ect for the building facade.

Die 6 Pluspunkte von IvyLight© The 6 advantages of IvyLight© Überzeugende Theorie ist das Eine. Wie aber bewährt sich eine Leuchte in der Praxis�? Gibt sie tatsächlich jenes Licht, das man von ihr erwartet�? Geht sie unbe-schadet durch Hitze- wie auch Frostperioden�? Mit anderen Worten�: Hält sie wirklich, was sie verspricht�? Convincing theory is one thing. But how does a lamp fare in practice? Does it really produce the light it is supposed to�? Can it survive both extreme heat and severe frost�? In other words, does it really fulfi l its promise? Leuchten der IvyLight©-Serie spenden genauso viel Licht wie

eine Halogenleuchte, verbrauchen aber lediglich ein Fünftel der Energie. Das bedeutet: Sie ersparen der Atmosphäre eine Menge Kohlendioxid. Wer beispielsweise zwei Halogen-leuchten durch IvyLights© ersetzt, vermeidet damit genauso viel CO2, wie ein ganzer Kühlschrank durch seinen Verbrauch freisetzt. Mit der jährlichen CO2-Ersparnis von drei IvyLights© könnte man sogar einmal von Köln nach Paris fl iegen. Und dabei ist ihre Ressourcenersparnis durch längere Lebens-dauer noch gar nicht mit eingerechnet.Lamps in the IvyLight© series bestow just as much light as a halogen lamp, while consuming only one fi fth of the energy. That means they help to make great cut-backs in carbon emissions. For example, if you replace two halogen lamps with IvyLights©, you reduce the same amount of carbon emissions that is generated by a refrigerator in operation. And you could even fl y from Cologne to Paris with the annual carbon emissions saved by three IvyLights©. Let alone the resources saved by the longer service life.

Auch eine Außenleuchte ist ein Verbraucher. So erfordert eine Halogenlampe etwa einmal jährlich ein neues Leucht-mittel, regelmäßige Wartung und natürlich eine gewisse Menge Strom. Eine IvyLight© benötigt fast nichts von alle-dem. Rund 40.000 Stunden lang leuchtet sie zuverlässig, verbrauchsarm und wartungsfrei – das bedeutet im Schnitt mehr als 16 Jahre, in denen sie nicht nur jede Menge Arbeit, sondern auch erhebliche Kosten spart. Even outside lamps are consumers. A halogen lamp needs a new illuminant about once a year, together with regular maintenance and of course a certain amount of electricity. An IvyLight© needs almost none of that. It shines reliably for about 40.000 hours on a low level of consumption without needing any maintenance – which on average works out at more than 16 years in which it saves not only lots of work but also con-siderable costs.

We put LED outside lamps on a completely new level with constant, bril-liant light and an output of up to 65 lumen/watt in the warm white range.

IvyLights© sind echte Schnellstarter. Anders als Entladungs- oder Kompaktleuchtstoffl ampen schalten sie augenblicklich von 0 auf 100 % Lichtleistung. Und sind damit auch für kurze Einschaltzeiten – z.B. an Zuwegungen oder in Kombination mit Bewegungsmeldern – bestens geeignet.IvyLights© are literally quick off the mark. In contrast to discharge or compact fl uorescent lamps, they generate an in-stantaneous light output from 0 to 100%. This also makes them ideal even for short on-times, for example along access paths or in combination with movement detectors.

Kälte und Frost im Winter�: Außenleuchten sind extremen Witterungseinfl üssen ausgesetzt. Wir fertigen sie daher vom Werk-stoff bis zu den feinsten Fertigungsdetails so, dass sie Wind und Wetter zuverlässig standhalten. Zu jeder Jahreszeit. Und über viele Jahre hinweg. The full heat of summer in the middle of the year. Fog in the spring and rain in the autumn. Cold and frost in winter. Outside lamps are exposed to extreme weather conditions. And so from the choice of materials through to the very last production details, we design our lamps to ensure that they will reliably withstand wind and weather. At any time of the year. For many years to come.

Und weil das so ist, verwenden wir für unsere Außenleuchten ausschließlich Materialien, denen die Zeit wenig anhaben kann�: hochwertigen Edelstahl, eloxiertes Aluminium und widerstandsfähiges Quarzglas. Aus diesen drei Grundstoff en bauen wir Leuchten, die nicht nur auf den ersten, sondern auch auf den zweiten, dritten und X-ten Blick schön sind. Und es auch bleiben. Beauty, so they say, is transitory. And because that is correct, we make our outside lamps using only materials that will stand the test of time�: high-grade stainless steel, anodized aluminium and tough quartz glass. We use these three basic materials to make lamps which look beautiful at not only fi rst glance but also at second, third and xth glance. And which stay that way.

Edelstahl Gäbe es einen Preis für besonders robuste Werkstoff e, hätte Edelstahl ihn allemal verdient. Der edelste aller Stähle zeigt sich äußerst widerstandsfähig gegenüber mechani-schen wie chemischen Belastungen. Für unsere Leuchten verwenden wir ausschließlich austentischen Edelstahl der Klasse 1.4301 aus der Gruppe der V2A-Stähle. Ins Allgemein-verständliche übersetzt heißt das�: Unsere Edelstahl-Leuchtengehäuse sind nicht nur außergewöhnlich ästhetisch, sondern auch überdurchschnittlich robust. Zu erklären ist diese Eigenschaft durch den erhöhten Legierungsgehalt an Chrom und Molybdän, dank derer sich an ihrer Oberfl äche eine dünne, transparente „Passivschicht“ bildet. Wird die Oberfl äche durch Kratzer oder Stöße verletzt, schließt sich diese Passivschicht jedes Mal selbsttätig neu. Dank dieses einzigartigen Selbstreparatur�-�Mechanismus ist Edelstahl ohne jede weitere Schutzbehandlung enorm widerstandsfähig. Stainless steel If prizes were awarded for particularly robust material, stainless steel would surely be one of the winners. The fi nest of all steels shows excellent resistance to both mechanical and chemical loads. For our lamps, we use only class 1.4301 austenitic V2A stainless steel. Or in words everyone can understand, this means our stainless steel lamp housings are not only unusually aesthetic in appearance but also stand out with above average resilience. This is thanks to the elevated alloy contents of chromium and molybdenum which form a thin transparent “passive” coating on the surface of the steel. When scratches or blows damage the surface, this passive coating automatically heals itself every time. This unique self-repair mechanism makes stainless steel hugely resistant without needing any additional protective treatment.


Aluminium ist ein ästhetischer, leichter, wärmeleitender und gut zu verarbeitender Werkstoff – mit anderen Worten�: das perfekte Material für perfekte Außenleuchten. Um es vor Umwelt-einfl üssen zu schützen, wird Aluminium häufi g mit einer Lackschicht überzogen. Dieser Schutz ist allerdings nicht selten nur von begrenzter Dauer. Wird die Lackschicht durch Kratzer oder Verformung des Bauteils durchlässig, korrodiert das Aluminium – ein unschöner Eff ekt, der im Volksmund auch als „Ausblühen“ bezeichnet wird. Wir setzen daher auf die weitaus beständigere Versiegelung durch Eloxieren. Dabei wird die Metalloberfl äche zunächst in einem elektrochemischen Prozess umgewandelt und dann durch sogenanntes Verdichten geschlossen. Damit sind unsere Eloxal-Versiegelungen extrem dauerhaft und widerstehen sogar den meisten chemischen Substanzen. Vor allem aber ist ihre Oberfl äche weitgehend UV-beständig, was beim Einsatz im Außenbereich und unter starker Sonneneinstrahlung von nicht zu unterschätzendem Vorteil ist. Das gilt insbesondere für Aluminiumleuchten mit einer farbigen Eloxalschicht. Unsere Außenleuchten in den Farbtönen schwarz oder bronze noir beispielsweise bleiben dank ihrer UV-resistenten Oberfl äche über lange Zeit hinweg farbtreu.Aluminium is an aesthetic, lightweight, heat-conductive, easily machined material. In other words, it is the perfect material for perfect outside lamps. Aluminium is frequently coated with varnish to protect it from ambient infl uences. But this coating is frequently of only limited durability. If scratches or deformation of the part make the varnish coating permeable, this can cause corrosion of the aluminium with an ugly eff ect popularly known as “staining”. And so we opt for the far more resistant seal generated by anodizing. Here the metal surface is initially transformed in an electrochemical process and then sealed by so-called densifying. And so our anodized surfaces are extremely durable and even withstand most chemical substances. What’s more, they are essentially UV-�resistant, an advantage which should not be underestimated, particularly for outdoor applications and when exposed to strong sunlight. This applies in particular to aluminium lamps with a coloured anodized fi nish. For example, our outside lamps in black or bronze noir retain their colour shade over long periods of time thanks to their UV�-��resistant surface fi nish.

Glas So unterschiedlich wie unsere Leuchten, so unterschiedlich sind auch die Gläser, die wir für sie verwenden�: Dazu zählen mundgeblasenes Kristallglas (�z.B. für „globe“ oder „ith“�), Borosilikatgläser, ESG-Sicherheitsglas und optische Gläser wie Linsen und dichroitische Filter. Allen gemein ist, dass sie feuchtigkeitsbeständig und hochdicht mit ihrem Leuchten-gehäuse verbunden sind. Glass The range of diff erent glass types that we use is as varied as the lamps themselves. The choice includes mouth-blown crystal glass (�e.g. for “globe” or “ith”)�, borosilicate glass, toughened safety glass and optical glass such as lenses and dichroic fi lters. They all share the common characteristic of being bonded to their lamp housing with a moisture-resistant, highly impermeable seal.

Fräsen Klare Konturen sind bei Edelstahlleuchten eine echte Rarität. Denn üblicherweise wird Edelstahl gebogen, wobei anstelle eines exakten 90°-Winkels lediglich sanfte Rundungen entstehen. Wir hingegen versehen die Kanteninnenseite jeder entsprechenden Leuchte mit einer präzisen V-Nut. Und erzielen damit jene konsequenten Profi le, an denen man IP44.de-Leuchten schon von weither erkennt.Milling Clear contours in stainless steel lamps are a genuine rarity. Normally, stainless steel is bent, producing gentle curves instead of an exact 90° angle. By contrast, we apply a precise V-groove to the inside edge of every corresponding lamp. This gives us the consistent profi le that lets you recognize IP44.de lamps already from afar.

All das tun wir übrigens ausschließlich in Deutschland, weil wir nur hier die Qualität jedes Arbeitsschritts und jedes verwendeten Materials kontrollieren können. Das kostet uns zwar eine Menge Zeit, Mühe und auch Geld– aber zahlt sich in Form perfekter, außergewöhnlich robuster Außen-leuchten jedes Mal aufs Neue aus. The entire process takes place here in Germany and nowhere else, as it is only here that we can control the quality of every step and every material that is used. While this all costs plenty of time, eff ort and also money, the perfect, extraordinarily resilient outside lamps produced in this way are worth it every single time.


Bürsten Eine gleichmäßig gebürstete Edelstahlfl äche ist das Ergebnis konzentrierter Hand-arbeit am Schleifbock. Dabei wird jeder Rohling zweimal mit unterschiedlicher Stärke gebürstet. Um einen wirklich perfekten Schliff zu erzielen, braucht ein Schleifer viele Jahre Erfahrung. Eine einzige Unachtsamkeit reicht aus, um das gesamte Schliff bild zu zerstören und die Leuchte unbrauchbar zu machen. Brushing An evenly brushed stainless steel surface is the result of concentrated manual grinding at the grinder’s bench. Each piece is brushed twice with diff erent strengths. To achieve a truly perfect eff ect, the grinder needs many years of experience. His attention only needs to wander once to spoil the whole fi nish and make the lamp completely unfi t for use.

Scotchen Auf das Bürsten der Rohlinge folgt als letzter Arbeitsschritt das Scotchen – sozusagen das i-Tüpfelchen der Oberfl ächenveredelung. Denn die händische Politur mit Filzbändern verleiht der Leuchtenoberfl äche eine matt seidige Patina, die charakteristisch für unsere Edelstahlleuchten ist. Nebenbei ist eine gescotchte Oberfl äche unempfi ndlich gegen Finger-abdrücke und erfreulich leicht zu reinigen.Scotching The fi nal step after brushing the parts consists of scotching – the icing on the cake, so-to-speak. Manual polishing with felt belts gives the surface of the lamp the silky matt patina which characterizes our stainless steel lamps. Moreover, a scotched surface is resistant to fi ngerprints and pleasantly easy to clean.

Erst im fünften Arbeitsschritt wird er mit einem speziellen Filzband fi nal hochglanzpoliert. Polishing No metallic lamp surface is as demanding and time-consuming to produce as a polished fi nish. To achieve a truly smooth appearance, we brush the stainless steel body fi rst of all in four stages using sanding belts of increasingly fi ne granulation, followed by a fi nal fi fth step with a special felt belt to produce the fi nal high-gloss fi nish.

Pfl ege Edelstahl gebürstet Edelstahl verfügt über eine einzigartige Eigenschaft�: Wird er beschädigt, verschließt sich seine sogenannte Passivschicht unter dem Einfl uss von Sauer-stoff selbsttätig neu. Dieser Schutzmechanismus funktioniert allerdings nur so lange, wie sich kein Schmutz auf der Oberfl äche ablagert. Schleifstaub, Metallspäne, Kalk- und Mörtelsprit-zer können seine Passivschicht durchbrechen und Rostfl ecken bilden, die sich später nicht mehr entfernen lassen. Entsprechende Verunreinigungen sollten Sie daher sofort entfernen. Für die routinemäßige Pfl ege reicht es, wenn Sie Ihre Leuchte regelmäßig von Schmutzpartikeln befreien. Für gebürstete Edelstahloberfl ächen bieten wir Ihnen dabei ein spezielles Pfl egeset, bestehend aus einem Reiniger und einer Pfl egelotion auf biologischer Basis.Caring for brushed stainless steel Stainless steel has a unique property�: if the surface is dam-aged, the so-called passive coating heals itself automatically when exposed to oxygen. But this protection mechanism only works as long as no dirt has settled on the surface. Grinding dust, metal chippings and splashes of lime and mortar can penetrate the passive coating and cause rusty stains that can't be removed later on. Please therefore remove any soiling of this kind im-mediately. For routine care, it is suffi cient if you regularly remove dirt and impurities from the surface of your lamp. We off er a special care set for brushed stainless steel surfaces, consisting of a cleaner and care lotion based on a biological agent.

To remove water or chlorine residues, use a soft cleaning sponge and distilled water (�prevents limescale�). Please never use a scouring agent as the particles would damage the polished fi nish.

Condensation High humidity levels or great fl uctuations in temperature, climatic conditions which normally occur in spring and autumn, can cause condensation in the glass housing. This does not indicate a fl aw in the product but is a natural consequence of the physical properties of water. The best way to deal with condensation is simply to leave the lamp switched on for a while so that the condensation can dry out.
