Welcome to Graphics!Rules: Entering Room 303

These Rules are in place to ensure that together we create a and maintain a positive and safe learning environment.

• You must wait quietly in a line outside the room before lessons until I am asked to enter.

•You must enter quietly and sit at your place. If you enter inappropriately you will have to leave the room and re- enter.

• You must get out homework your pencil case and any other relevant equipment and then place your bag under your desk.

General rules• All Bags should be stored under your desks as they are a tripping hazard.

• You must bring a pencil a ruler and a rubber to every lesson.

• All H/W must be handed in on the due in day, if it is not for any reason you will receive an automatic 10 minute detention on the same day followed by a further 30mins if it is not handed in the following day.

• There is no running at all allowed in 303.

• I must take special care when carrying scissors or other sharp object and watch out for my own and others safety.

Get yourself a drawing board and a sheet of A4 paper.

Prepare yourself another sheet of A4 paper.

One point perspective:

Draw a vanishing point on the top right of your page….

VP (Vanishing point )

Now draw a line from the top left corner to the vanishing point..

Now draw a line from the top right corner to the vanishing point..

Now draw a line from the bottom right corner to the vanishing point.. You should see your 3-D box starting to appear.

Now draw two lines to complete the cube, and then…..

….. Rub out the excess lines, leaving the vanishing point.

Now we will move onto 2 point pespective.


Two point Perspective

This is the method of drawing to give a 3 dimensional view.

VP (Vanishing point ) VP

This is the box we are going to draw.

1. Draw the vanishing points, towards the top of the paper.2. Draw the front corner of the box.

3. Join the top and bottom to the vanishing points

4. Draw the back of the box verticals

5. Join them to the opposite VP

6. Rub out the unwanted lines.

VPVPUse thick and thin lines to outline any edges which do not show both faces.

Use rendering to make it look solid, use three shades of the same colour.

Lightest side

Using the vanishing points you can add a range of shapes.Notice

that the vertical lines are always vertical

and all other lines go to one or other of the vanishing points.

You can add rendering to the shapes.

The shape can be changed.

Render the shape.

Can you work out where the VPs are for these objects?

Now it’s your turn.

• Using two point perspective, draw a series of 4 blocks and render them.

• That’s it.
