Byron, Nila, and Pastor Luis
Byron, Jhony, and Pastor Luis
About to be baptized: Steven (a boy
from our neighborhood), Jessica, Nila,
Carmen, and Jhony
Greetings from Aberdeen, Washington! We are excited to set up the new
headquarters of Isaiah 61 International in the United States. We celebrate all that
the Lord has done during the last 12 years of ministry in Ecuador, and we look
forward expectantly to all that the Lord will do this year. You are an important
part of our continuing ministries, and we thank you for your faithful support. This
newsletter is longer than usual in order to give you an overview of our diverse
ministries. Praise God for all His wonderful works!
Before we left Ecuador on March 10, Pastor Luis and I
(Byron) baptized 9 brothers and sisters in CHRIST,
many from the Delphin daycare. That was such a big
blessing. After four years of working with the Delphin
daycare (tuition scholarships, improvement projects,
and weekly Bible studies),
it was a privilege to baptize
the director, Nila, her
husband, Jhony, and
several of the workers. We
would love to start a church in the daycare’s
neighborhood of Quito, as the Lord wills.
The construction for the South Quito church is
going well. We put cement on the bottom half of
the 13 columns and filled in the holes. The next
step is the foundation/first floor and the
supporting wall. It can be done in two phases,
each costing around $7500. Please pray with us
for the Lord’s provision, and help us praise Him
for the work that has already been done!

New Ministry Site
Rio Verde, Esmeraldas
Welcome to the Coast of Ecuador! Some
of you may remember a touching thank-
you letter that Isaiah 61 received from
this town for delivering food and
supplies to them after the earthquake
last April. It is fertile ground for a new
church, so Pastor Luis stepped out in
faith a few months ago to purchase a
small piece of land in Rio Verde. Our
association of pastors rallied around him and pledged to help turn those 232
square meters into a place for retreats and a new local church, as the Lord wills.
Our lot (to the right) is empty but it does have neighbors.

Carapungo is a small town just north of Quito. Daniel joined Isaiah 61’s association of pastors recently. We
are excited to partner with this new church plant, helping them financially and encouraging them.

Animal Rescues at the Guesthouse
Since 2005, we have adopted and/or rehomed 35 dogs
and 12 cats. We routinely sterilize the females,
although we have had 4 litters of puppies and 1 of
kittens. Candy (left) is our most recent rescue, so I
(Becky) don’t have an “after” picture yet. She had 9
puppies right before we left Ecuador, and we are still
looking for homes for the 5 females. Because of the
puppies, we currently have 9 dogs at the guesthouse.

Zechariah 4:10
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.
