IDEAS MAKE ME HAPPY
The initial challenge was to map out the client's hand written
description of the divorce mediation process as it happens
without the assistance of technology and imagine what that
might look like as a user journey
amicableDIVORCEmediation app
www.amicable.io
We produced a
comprehensive set
of wireframes that
tackled the
problem at
a conceptual level
amicableDIVORCEmediation app
I ran workshops to unpack their brand
values and we designed their logo and
visual guidelines which would be
implemented into their website and app
amicableDIVORCEmediation app
I produced two weeks of user testing to gauge whether the
concept would work and to gather reactions to the various
features
From here we devised an MVP from the initial scope in line
with the testing feedback and started adjusting the wireframes
and implementing designs
amicableDIVORCEmediation app
The client requested a modern feel that was authoritative yet
fresh, not too austere and not to glib. We broadly applied
Google's material design principals to achieve this goal
amicableDIVORCEmediation app
The product enters build stage in January 2016 and will exist in
live BETA form with the objective of securing funding beyond
their initial seed round

LSBUINTRANETPRODUCT DESIGN
The specification provided by LSBU
contained an extensive list of
requirements. The challenge was how to
organise this broad list of functions, meet
their desire to do everything within a
single product and find a simple technical
solution
LSBUINTRANETPRODUCT DESIGN
I designed a dynamic search interface as opposed to a menu system to be the primary navigation device
I devised a space that would act as a hub for the various applications they used
Despite the complexity of the product I wanted a spacious welcoming design that felt simple and intuitive
LSBUINTRANETPRODUCT DESIGN
LSBUINTRANETPRODUCT DESIGN
Using the search box the user can filter
the system to return queries based on
the information they want to access or
the function they want to perform
The system administrator can tag
notifications against relevant search
terms to create promoted results
An example of this might be to alert the
company of changes to their pay date
by tagging against the term "payslip"
LSBUINTRANETPRODUCT DESIGN
The project is still ongoing but here are some examples of the current design

In 2010 I pitched the owner of a
revolutionary print on demand
footwear process a business
plan to take his technology to
the music merchandise industry
Together we built the business
and designed the ecommerce
platform on which we retailed
our footwear
A lot of the design went into the
back end functionality and
admin structure but we
also produced a flexible shop
design that was simple to
navigate and importantly, music
genre neutral
The site took orders for the
manufacturing team to receive,
producing the product to be
sent out to the customer within
the same day
I devised an avatar to speak for
each genre of music we
serviced. The brand could stay
neutral but allow us to align
ourselves with each type of
music's fans

Reader's Digest revamped and
redesigned their online shop in
2014/15
I helped map the product
categories to the new site whilst
supervising and guiding the work
of the UX designer
The task wasn't to innovate,
rather to bring the shop up to
date with current conventions

Action 2015's Light the way
event asked people to support
an end to poverty and inequality
I took the client's brief and hand
drawn sketches, committed them
to a wireframe and site structure
before the build reached out to
supporters worldwide

IDEAS MAKE ME HAPPY
As a kid I was an avid birdwatcher. I kind of gave it up when I hit my
teens but have a crisp memory of the books I used to used to identify the
birds and my notepad where I kept a record of what I'd seen
The birding apps on the market aren't very good. So I thought I'd create
my own specification and conceptualise a product which might work for
the RSPB
