3 focal points for main activities: I) STRATEGIC PERSPECTIVE ON LIBRARY INNOVATION
• The network is initiated by the strategic management fora of the network partners
• The starting point is a common Nordic strategic perspective which can develop creative contributions to library innovation in the Nordic countries
![Page 9: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)

3 focal points for main activities: II) BUILDING IDEAS, COMPETENCES AND NETWORK
• Ideas and competences (knowledge, skills and attitudes) will be developed by involving library staff from the 5 project partners
• The creative camps will be the basis of new relations between library staff and hopefully co-operation in future networks and Nordic projects
![Page 10: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)

If, at some point you have questions about the process
• Write it down on a post-it and place it on the question wall
• We answer them all before we go home

Take breaks on your own
• If you need to go to the toilet, smoke etc.• If you cannot understand what is happening
"right now”, it's ok, but don't interrupt the proces
• If you are tired or for some reason need a break• Take a break on your own. Don’t take other
people away from the process

Structure of The Creative Platform
• four principles• one method: 3D cases that
implements the principles
![Page 27: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/27.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 1: No judgement
• The Creative Platform creates a confident and secure environment by applying the rule of NO JUDGEMENT:– Between participants– Of Ideas / output– Of process
![Page 28: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 1. No judgement (cntd.)- ideas are just ideas
• Ideas should not be judged• The purpose of an idea is to get
another idea• Follow the energy of an idea – not
the logic of it• help others give birth to ideas
![Page 29: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 1: No judgement (cntd.) - barriers that may stand in the way of
using all your knowledge
We all know the feeling of:
• Fear of making mistakes• Fear that it will not work• Fear of making wrong decisions• Fear of looking really stupid• Fear of losing control• All this leads us to choose the safe "NO“ or the dismissive "YES but"
![Page 30: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/30.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 1. No judgement (cntd.) - accept and use your mistakes
• Accept and work with your mistakes• You are supposed to make mistakes• Mistakes leads us to new ideas
![Page 31: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/31.jpg)

Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 2: Parallel Thinking
• The Creative Platform promotes concentration by using parallel thinking:– All participants – in total and in
groups - take every step of the process at the same time
– Everyone talks about the same at the same time
– Result: When we have finished a task, it's over and done with
![Page 34: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/34.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 3: Task focus
• The Creative Platform creates motivation by introducing Task Focus:– Never focus on participants – it is not
personal– Focus must be only on the task– One task one deadline!
![Page 35: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/35.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 4: Horizontal Thinking
• The Creative Platform creates wide usage of knowledge by introducing Horizontal Thinking:– Helps participants to break free of
their patterns– Focus on usage of knowledge across
disciplines
![Page 36: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/36.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010

Children
Food/vine/beer
Watches
House renovation
Family
Music/Party
![Page 37: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/37.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
Principle 4: Horizontal thinking (cntd.)- knowledge concept
• The classical (vertical) knowledge concept– Limits use of knowledge to only one
“shelve”
• The horizontal knowledge concept– uses knowledge from all “shelves”
![Page 38: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/38.jpg)

One Method: 3D cases
• 3D cases are exercises that use both body, language and attitude to– Maintain a creative presence – Release energy and free space for
uninhibited use of knowledge
![Page 41: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/41.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
3D cases- the Body
• The body contains our knowledge and by moving our body knowledge is set free
• Using your body makes you experience things in a different way
• Using your body makes you communicate differently
• An energetic body focuses concentration and energy
![Page 42: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/42.jpg)
Next Library - Nordic Camps - Ice Camp 2010
3D cases- Language and Attitude
• Through language you maintain traditional mental patterns – BUT you can also use language to change them
• Never say NO ...• Never say YES BUT ...• Always say, YES AND ...• Accept the offers you get, in terms of ideas - and
use them• Changing the attitude provides energy and
motivation

The most important themes in the challenge
- The userdriven library, where you can define your needsThe public can influence and define the form and the content of their library. The staff need to be openminded, bring in the users, and shape the library for the future, both physical and digital.
- Partnerships, new ways of cooperatingUsing new connections to bring the non-users into the library. Use experts and partners not traditionally known to the library, and create new services. Also let the library be an arena for others.
- Connecting people, on their terms
![Page 140: Ice camp2010web](https://reader030.vdocuments.mx/reader030/viewer/2022032514/55d4db24bb61ebb17b8b4717/html5/thumbnails/140.jpg)
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
when all the people come together
then the library will keep living on
