USEF RULE REGARDING HORSE RECORDING Any horse competing in a USEF local member competition must have at least a Horse

ID number (“HID”) through the USEF. For Local Member competitions such as WHJA

shows, or for competitors not interested in year end points at rated shows, the HORSE

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (“HID”) is a simple and low cost option. You can

obtain a HID number at the horse show office prior to the start of the show, however in

2007, the USEF has imposed a $10 USEF administration fee for HID numbers issued at a

competition. A free HID number can be easily requested in advance through the USEF

website, at: www.usef.org.

We recommend that anyone who is unsure if their horse is recorded to visit the

USEF website at: www.usef.org/content/searches/horserecording/search and double

click. Recording your horse online will only take a few minutes and will save you

time and money in the horse show office.

The WHJA is proud to participate in the

USHJA Affiliate Equitation Awards Program

Specifications: This Equitation Award program is available through Medal Classes at local-member horse shows recognized by organizations that are Affiliate Members of the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association

(USHJA). Riders may choose to participate by competing in Medal Classes at WHJA recognized

local-member horse shows. The rider must be an Outreach, Associate, or Active Member of the USHJA for Medal Class points to count toward this USHJA year-end award. Medal Class points

accumulated at WHJA-recognized local-member shows throughout the competition year will

determine the year-end award winners. The top ten point earners in each Medal Equitation section who are USHJA Members at the Outreach level or higher will be awarded a special USHJA

keepsake. In addition, the top USHJA-member point earner in each of the Medal Equitation sections

receives a USHJA high score award and their photo in the Affiliates Award Yearbook that the USHJA publishes annually.

USHJA Membership Requirements for Participation: The purpose of the Affiliate Equitation Awards Program is to increase the USHJA's outreach in the

equestrian community, by further informing and educating individuals who participate in equestrian sports at the unrecognized and local horse show level. To encourage participation, the USHJA has

created a new Outreach membership level which, for an annual fee of $15, provides access to

USHJA resources, including a subscription to In Stride magazine and bi-weekly emails of important news, reminders, resources, and information. Online membership enrollment or a membership form

are available at www.ushja.org. You may also join the USHJA through the horse show secretary,

however, your membership must be completed prior to participating in a medal class for points to count toward this award.

Gambler’s Choice – Sponsored by: New Heights - FUN * FUN * FUN In this top scoring competition, each obstacle is allotted a number of points, from 20 to

120 according to difficulty. Competitors are credited with the number of points allotted

to each obstacle provided it is jumped clear. No point is awarded for an obstacle knocked

down. Each competitor is allowed a fixed time of 50 seconds. During this time, he/she

can jump all the obstacles he chooses in the order and direction that he desires. A bell or

whistle will indicate the end of the course. The competitor must then cross the finish

line, from whatever direction so that the Judge can register the time. Each obstacle can

be jumped twice to count. The competitor will then be allotted 20 seconds to jump the

joker one time for a plus or minus 200 points. The competitor with the greatest number

of points is the winner. In case of equality of points and time, there will be a jump-off

according to the same formula with a fixed time of 50 seconds.

In order to be eligible you and your horse must have entered, shown, and completed the

course in at lease three jumper classes at this show. This class will be open to all jumper

riders. You must complete at the highest height you jumped at this show. (Heights will

vary according to highest division shown. Fence heights 2’3” – 3”. Joker jump may be

Hunter/Jumper Pairs Relay Class (Rotating Pair Relay)

FUN ● FUN ● FUN

This competition is for teams of two. A horse can only compete once in this class, but a

rider may compete on more than one horse. The entire course must be jumped in the

correct order by each competitor alternating fences. The competitor who crosses the start

line must jump the first obstacle and the competitor who jumps the last obstacle must

cross the finish line.

Example: Horse #1 – Jumps Fence #1, 3, 5, 7, 9

Horse #2 – Jumps Fence #2, 4, 6, 8, 10

Competitors must change over every other fence. A change is obligatory whenever a

fault is incurred. A fault is indicated by an audible signal at which time the other

competitor continues the course from the next obstacle. In the event of disobedience, the

other competitor must first jump the obstacle which has not been jumped by his partner

and then continue the course. Fences 2’3”max.

Faults incurred are penalized by adding four seconds for each occurrence to the time of

the round. The first two disobediences are penalized only by time, the third disobedience

incurs elimination. Should a competitor jump an obstacle before his partner has landed

over preceding obstacle, the pair will be eliminated. The fastest time overall wins. In the

case of a tie for first place only, there will be a jump-off over a shortened course. Not

USEF or WHJA Recognized. It Is Just For Fun!!!
