What is Bubble Hash?• Trichomes from cannabis plant – THC!• THC is non-water soluble.• Ice water is used to crystallize the

trichomes.• Vigorous mixing of plant and ice water

causes trichomes to separate from plant.

• Gets “bubble” name from foamy nature of the mixed plant/water.

• Water sifted through fine mesh to extract the hash.

Required Supplies - Bags• Five Bubble Hash

Bags, from fine to coarse mesh.

• We used bags with 48, 80, 120, 160, and 200 micrometer mesh.

• Bags must be about 16”-18” deep with about a 12” diameter (fits a 5-gal. bucket)

Required Supplies - Other• Two 5-gallon

plastic buckets with one secure lid.

• One power drill, preferably with locking action.

• One long paint-mixing attachment for drill.

• Mixing handle for drill.

Required Supplies - Other• A 7lb. Bag of ice.• Paper plates.• Paper towels.• Cheesecloth.• Two cards for

scraping.• Water and a sink.• Up to sixteen

ounces of leaves, stems, shake, and buds.

Setting up the drill• Cut a 1” hole in

the center of one of the bucket lids.

• Poke the paint-stirrer through the hole in the lid and connect it to the drill.

Setting up the hash mix• Place all of the

plant material into one of the 5-gal. buckets.

• Place ice in the bucket on top of the plant material.

• Fill the bucket with water, but leaving about 4”-6” from the top of the bucket.

Setting up the hash bags• Line the other 5-gal.

bucket with the finest-mesh (lowest numbered) hash bag.

• Line the next-finest-mesh hash bag inside the previous bag.

• Repeat with the other bags, so that the numbers increase from first (outside) bag to last bag.

• With our set, the 48 bag goes in first, then 80, 120, 160, and 200 is last.

Mixing the hash• Place the lid/drill

onto the ice/plant bucket.

• Make sure that lid is on TIGHT!

• Place the bucket between your feet to keep it steady.

• Run the drill and hold it up enough to provide thorough mixing.

Mixing Cycle• Blend the ice/plant

mix for 5 minutes.• Take a 15 minute

break to allow the plant material to soak and separate.

• Blend again for 5 minutes and break again for 15 minutes.

• Blend one last time for 5 minutes.

Pouring the hash• Pour the contents of

the ice/plant bucket into the hash bag bucket.

• Remove the outermost bag and slowly lift up. This bag will contain the plant material, and a brownish water will drain from the mesh at the bottom.

• Dip the bag a couple of times to clear the foam from the outside.

Pulling the first hash bag• It’s okay to twist

and squeeze the bag to get the most foam from the mix – but be careful not to rip the bag.

• Dump the plant material back into the other (empty) 5-gal. bucket.

Pulling the next hash bag• As you pull the next

bag, it will be almost all water, you may need to shake this bag vigorously to get the water to drain.

• Dip the empty bag to clear the foam.

• What remains in the bottom of the bag is the first bit of hash.

Scraping the hash from the bag

• Stretch out the mesh of the bag onto a flat surface.

• Use a card to scrape up the hash.

• Place your cheesecloth onto a paper towel on a paper plate.

• Scrape the hash onto the cheesecloth.

Drying and molding the hash• Fold the

cheesecloth on top of the hash to make edges on the hash.

• Pat the paper towel on top of the cheesecloth.

• Pat lightly to remove some of the moisture, but it doesn’t need to be bone dry.

Pull the rest of the hash bags• Take your hash off the

cheesecloth and let it dry on a paper towel.

• Wash the now-empty hash bag and hang it to dry.

• Begin pulling the next bag and repeat the drain / dip / scrape / dry process.

• Remember, each bag will be successively harder to drain, as the mesh gets finer and finer.

The results• Each successive bag will

yield a finer, more potent hash.

• Your first bag will give you dark green, coarse-looking, grainey hash.

• Your second bag should produce a medium green, less-coarse-looking hash.

• Your third bag will produce the most hash, which will be a smoother-looking, blonder hash.

• Your last bag will produce the smoothest hash, but not as much as the third bag.

Repeating the process• The entire process may be

repeated one more time.• Take your water from the

hash bucket and pour it back into the other bucket containing the plant material.

• Add more ice if necessary.• Put your hash bags back

onto the now-empty bucket.

• Put the lid on, follow the mixing schedule, pull and drain the bags as before.

Finishing up• After pulling and scraping

all the bags, go ahead and dump the remaining water and plant material (or save it for a mulch).

• Two cycles will get you about as much hash as you’re going to get.

• Let your hash dry for a day before trying to use it.

• This process can be messy! Wear your grubby clothes. You may want to have some plastic sheets to protect your floors and furniture.

• Follow these instructions and you’ll be enjoying your hash in no time!
