Use Your Rail or Bus Pass You can use your NJ TRANSIT monthly or weekly rail pass (imprinted with a zone number) or Two-Zone monthly bus pass for any light rail trip at no additional charge during the period it is valid.

Use Your Light Rail Pass Your Light Rail monthly pass is valid for one-zone of travel at no additional charge on NJ TRANSIT buses, NJ TRANSIT contract carriers, and local bus routes operated by private carriers operating under an NJ TRANSIT Bus Card agreement.

NJ TRANSIT and Private Bus Carriers provide bus service from locations near most light rail stations. There are numerous connecting bus routes, which are shown on the map in this timetable.

PATH offers rail service between Newark Penn Station and the station at the World Trade Center, Journal Square and 33rd Street in New York, and Hoboken and 33rd Street in New York. Connections from the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail line can be made at Pavonia-Newport, Exchange Place and Hoboken. Call 1-800-234-PATH for more information.

Rail Connections are available at Hoboken Terminal to NJ TRANSIT Main/Bergen County, Morris & Essex, Montclair-Boonton, and Pascack Valley lines. See the system map and timetables for connecting service details.

We want to make your travel convenient and economical, so we offer lots of options:

Monthly Passes Valid for unlimited trips within a calendar month; and can be purchased from Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs), located at light rail stations beginning at 5 p.m. on the 19th of the month prior. (See Travel Flexibility for more infor-mation.) Monthly passes should not be validated.

One-Way Tickets Valid for one continuous trip. These tickets are good from the date of sale until used and must be validated just before use. You can also purchase an add-on one-zone bus trans-fer with a one-way ticket from TVMs.

Round-Trip Tickets Two one-way tickets for travel to or from your destination. These tickets are good from the date of sale until used and must be validated just before use.

10-Trip Tickets Ten individual single-use tickets. Each ticket must be time-stamped individually just before use.

Hudson Go Pass – Bus/Light Rail/Ferry Joint Monthly Pass and 10-Trip Ticket Valid for intrastate travel on bus routes 156R, 158 and 159R (two zones), the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail system, and NY Waterway ferry service to/from Port Imperial Ferry Terminal. Joint monthly passes ($280 Midtown, $400 Downtown) and 10-trip tickets ($85 Midtown, $130 Downtown) can be purchased from ticket vending machines at any Hudson-Bergen Light Rail station, select ticket vending machines at Port Imperial Ferry Terminal, and ticket windows at Port Authority Bus Terminal and NJ TRANSIT’s Hoboken Terminal. Hudson Go Pass monthly passes go on sale at 5 p.m. on the 19th day of the preceding month and may be purchased through the 10th day of the month. NY Waterway provides complimentary shuttle bus service for customers arriving at W. 39th Street to surrounding areas. Visit www.nywaterway.com for more info.

Senior Citizens (62 and older) and Passenger with Disabilities travel on light rail at a reduced fare of one-half the regular one-way fare or less at all times. Seniors may be asked to present a valid ID (any ID or document printed with date-of-birth and issued by a government, social service, or mass transportation agency). Also valid: the MTA Reduced Fare Card; PA Senior Citizen Transit ID or PACE Card; Senior Fare Card; or Medicare Card. Passengers with disabilities must present an NJ TRANSIT Reduced Fare ID or Medicare Card.

Children’s Fares Children (ages 5-11) save 50 percent and up to three children (ages 4 and under) ride free with a passenger paying any valid fare.

Family SuperSaver Fares NJ TRANSIT allows two children ages 5-11 to ride free with a passenger paying any valid fare—weekends and holidays from 7 p.m. Friday (or day before a holiday) to 6 a.m. Monday (or day after a holiday).

Military Personnel and Their Dependents may use the one-way reduced ticket upon pre-senting their valid military or military-depen-dent ID cards. Eligible military personnel include Active Duty, Reserve and National Guard, and those with official “Retired” status from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard. When purchasing your ticket from a ticket vend-ing machine, select Senior/Disabled to obtain the discounted fare. Veterans with service con-nected disabilities may present a valid Veterans Affairs (VA) identification card which indicates “service connected” to use the one-way reduced ticket option. Eligible customers may be required to show their valid identification to a Fare Inspector while traveling.

If you are not using one of the monthly or weekly tickets above, you must purchase (and time-stamp) a ticket just before boarding light rail cars or before entering Prepaid Fare Zones at Hoboken, Port Imperial, Lincoln Harbor, Tonnelle Avenue, Bergenline Avenue, 2nd, 9th, 22nd, and 8th Street stations. Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) are located near entrances or on platforms and at Park & Ride lots at each station. Proof-of-payment details are displayed on TVMs and Ticket Information posters at stations. Prepaid Fare Zones are prominently marked with signs as you approach the platform.

Light Rail is a ‘proof of payment’ system. You must be able to show a valid ticket upon request. All one-way and 10-trip tickets must be time-stamped prior to boarding to make them valid. A monthly light rail pass, a monthly or weekly NJ TRANSIT rail pass (imprinted with a zone number) or any NJ TRANSIT two-zone (or higher) bus pass, are also valid to ride. Follow the easy steps below. Customers without a valid ticket are subject to a fine of up to $100.

You must time-stamp all one-way tickets and 10-trip tickets in Validators located near TVMs just before boarding light rail cars or entering the Prepaid Fare Zones listed above. To time-stamp your ticket, insert it into the time-stamp machine with the print side up and the NJ TRANSIT logo facing to the left. The machine will date and time-stamp your ticket.

After you have time-stamped your ticket, simply get on board and ride. Each ticket is good for a single ride in one continuous direction of travel. NJ TRANSIT Fare Enforcement Officers make random ticket inspections on vehicles and at Prepaid Fare Zones. Keep your ticket handy until exiting your destination station, as you may be asked to show your ticket more than once during your trip. If you are a senior citizen or customer with a disability and are traveling with a reduced fare ticket, you must provide a valid form of ID upon request.

Customers must present a valid proof-of-payment as listed above upon request. Fare violators are subject to fine under State law N.J.A.C. 16:87—Proof of Payment.

Use su pase para tren o autobús Puede usar su pase de tren mensual o semanal de NJ TRANSIT (con el número de zona impreso) o cualquier pase de autobús mensual de dos-zonas para viajar en cualquier tren del Light Rail sin cargo adicional durante el período de validez del pase.

Si usted no está usando uno de los boletos mensuales o semanales indicados más arriba, debe comprar (y imprimir con la hora de validez) un boleto antes de subir a los trenes del Light Rail o ingresar a las zonas de tarifa prepagada de las estaciones Zones at Hoboken, Port Imperial, Lincoln Harbor, Tonnelle Avenue, Bergenline Avenue, 2nd, 9th, 22nd, y 8th Street estaciones. Hudson Go Pass – Pase Mensual Combinado y Boleto de 10 Viajes para Autobús/Tren Ligero/Ferry Válido para viajes intra-estatales en las rutas de autobús 156R, 158 y 159R (dos zonas), el sistema Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, y el servicio de ferry NY Waterway desde y hacia el Port Imperial Ferry Terminal. A las personas de mayor edad se les podría pedir que presenten un documento de identidad válido (cualquier documento de identidad que indique la fecha de nacimiento y otorgado por un organismo gubernamental, servicio social o de transporte público). Se aceptarán también los siguientes documentos: la tarjeta de tarifa reducida de la MTA (MTA Reduced Fare Card); identificación de transporte para jubilados del estado de Pennsylvania (PA Senior Citizen Transit ID) o una tarjeta PACE; tarjeta para jubilados de la línea PATH (PATH Senior Fare Card); o tarjeta de Medicare. Los pasajeros incapacitados deben presentar una tarjeta de identificación de tarifa reducida de NJ TRANSIT o tarjeta de Medicare.

Tarifas para niños: Los niños de 5 a 11 años ahorran un 50% como mínimo en las tarifas regulares para boletos de ida. Además, los niños menores de 4 años (hasta tres niños) viajan gratis cuando acompañan a un adulto que ha comprado un boleto de cualquier tarifa válida.

Tarifas familiares de superahorro: dos niños de 5 a 11 años viajan gratis con un pasajero que pague cualquier tarifa válida durante los fines de semana y feriados estatales desde las 7pm del viernes (o la víspera del feriado) hasta las 6am del lunes (o día posterior al feriado estatal).
