The children will build on their understanding of healthy diets. They will describe the importance of eating the right amounts of different types of food. They will also think about why hygiene is important when preparing food, cooking and eating. They will perform simple tests and gather and record data to

help them answer questions.

Class 2 will be continuing with cricket, as well as working on a range of sports skills ready for Sports Week. Please ensure your child brings the correct and named PE kit every Monday morning for the week ahead. PE will usually take place on Wednesdays, but they may sometimes require their kit on other days.

The children will use a range of materials and stimuli to develop their drawing skills. They will

also look at the work of book illustrators such as Quentin Blake and Anthony Browne and produce

their own work that imitates different styles.

The children consider what Jesus taught us. They will look at different stories from the Bible,

such as the Lost Sheep, and consider the messages within them. They will think about the

qualities that made Jesus a good teacher.

Class 2 will continue to work on their mental maths skills, including recalling times tables. It is expected that the children should know their

2x, 5x and 10x table confidently and in any order by the end of this year. They will also work on problems involving data handling,

directions and money, as well as working on the four operations (addition, subtraction,

multiplication and division).

phonics, vocabulary and handwriting. The children’s weekly spelling test will continue so please help them to learn their words at home

ready for the test on Tuesdays. Please continue to read regularly at home with your child. We

suggest a minimum of 4 times per week.
