Causes of Overpopulation in Haiti
• They would prefer to have boys over girls so they continue to have children until they conceive males.
• A lack of education could also be a cause.
• Their religion sometimes keeps them from using birth control and other factors of their religion come into play.
• In some cases they have more than one partner and that would also cause a rise in their population
![Page 11: Haiti Project](https://reader033.vdocuments.mx/reader033/viewer/2022061115/5464b6c0b4af9f2e588b4757/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Consequences of Overpopulation
• Lack of healthcare.• Shortage of food/nutrients.
(starvation)• Poor living conditions.• Contaminated water.• Spread of diseases such as
HIV/AIDS.• Poverty because of the
shortage in their employment.
• There are more people to cause pollution.
• There would also be a higher death rate due to the reasons stated above.
• Depleted forests

Possible Solutions for Overpopulation
• Sexual Education could help the problem of overpopulation.
• Industrialization would also help the problem.
• Make contraceptives more available to the people.
• Government could put a legal limit on the number of children that the citizens are permitted to have. (such as in China)
• Haiti should educate their women in the same way they educate their males so women are capable of doing the tasks that are given to the males.
