SPOOKY STORIES AND FRRRRIGHTFUL TALES!

One night a little girl sat reading on her bed, relying on the lamp on her bedside table to light up the room.

Her parents had gone to bed and it was snowing outside; a heavy snow that lay where it fell.

Suddenly, her light went out. Shrugging, thinking it was just a burst bulb, she put down her book and tried to get to sleep.

Someone knocked on her door; quick rapping knocks that got her out of bed and stumbling over to open it, rubbing her eyes.

A little boy was standing out-side her door, dripping wet from the outside snow.

“Hi.” He smiled. “Can I come in to play?”

The girl was suddenly full of energy. “Let’s play cards.” She agreed.

They played cards until the boy looked outside, sighing sadly.

“I need to go now. I’ll see you later.”

The little girl waved goodbye then went back to bed, falling asleep instantly.

In the morning she told her mother about the strange boy, who told her off for telling fibs.

“No one lives near us, Anna-bel.” She scolded her daughter. “Stop making up stories.”

The boy kept visiting Annabel to play every night. The little girl noticed the boy was always so unusually pale, and never stopped dripping water.

The water would always make a puddle on the carpet, but would disappear by the time she woke up.

Read on to find out who the strange boy is......

SPOOKY STORIES AND FRRRRIGHTFUL TALES!

One night, the boy didn’t come to her door. Confused, she searched the whole house until she saw him standing outside the front door, knocking si-lently.

“Hey! Do you want to come in?” Annabel opened the door.

The strange boy shook his head and stepped away, leading her along the side of the house. Annabel followed him, curious.

He led her to her moth-er’s garden, which was filled with flowers and had always bloomed beautifully.

“There used to be a pond here.” He told her quietly. “I ran away one night a long time ago. On the way I tripped and fell into the pond. When I woke up, I

was a ghost.”

He turned to her. “Can you promise me to look after this garden?”

Annabel nodded, shivers run-ning up her spine. She was talking to a real ghost! “I promise.”

He smiled and faded away, leav-ing her outside alone.

The next morning, Annabel asked her mother if she could pull all the weeds out of the pretty garden outside.

“Of course!” Her mother was pleased. “Why are you suddenly interested in gardening?”

The girl smiled. “No reason.”

Annabel never forgot the strange boy who played cards with her.
