MILESTONES

Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion Association gathers 26 district councils from the 34 of Republic of

Moldova, except the regions with special status Gagauzia and Transnistria, and 3 county councils

from Romania (Iași, Prahova and Vaslui) and was established as Romanian juridical person in 2005

with headquarters in Iași.

Based on the good relations established in Ukraine, in November 2012, Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion

signed a cooperation agreement with Nistru Euroregion which includes Vinnitsa region (Ukraine) and

7 districts from the north and north-east border of Republic of Moldova.

The mission of the Association enrolls in the Convergence Objective of the European Union,

indicating that it aims, in this case, a cross-border level (with three local administrations from the

European Union and 26 local administrations from outside the European Union).

Mission

To extend and improve relations between local communities and authorities in economic, cultural, scientific and civic fields with the aim of ensuring sustainable and territorial balanced development of the Euroregion. To respect, protect and guarantee the rights and interests of the administrative-territorial units, members of the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion.

Activities and projects of the Association cover various fields of interest from economy, infrastructure, environment, tourism, agriculture and rural development, human resource development and social services, to education, informational society and culture, according to the development strategy of local administrations.

ONGOING PROJECTS CROSS-BORDER ECONOMIC FORUM

Ongoing: First edition, 17 – 18 June 2013, Iasi, Romania

Organizers: Association „Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion” The Cross-Border Business Forum represents an undoubted manifestation of the mission undertaken by Iasi County Council and the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion to increase the development of cross-border economic relations at the eastern border of the European Union.

The Cross-Border Business Forum was attended by more than 200 companies from 23 districts belonging to Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion that represent the districts of Republic of Moldova, Vinnitsa, Odessa, Cernauti and Ivano-Frankivsk Regions (Ukraine) and from the 6 counties belonging to North-East Region (Romania), (to see companies descriptions please visit our site http://forum-euroregiune.org/) who had the opportunity to exhibit and present their activity (products) and to interact with each other.

The official opening of the Business Forum took place on June 17 and was attended by numerous officials from the three countries. Among the special guests were:

Second day of the event was dedicated to big companies and big projects of local government. Were presented large projects supported by Iasi County Council, Administrations from Vinnitsa and Chernivtsi, and Bacau Chamber of Commerce. Also, big companies like Valrom Industries, MPP Ruslana and UKR PRO INVEST (Ukraine) and EximBank, Antibiotice Iasi, Fortus, Hydramold, Brikstone (Romania) presented their interest in cross-border collaboration. The event was a center of interest for the media from Romania and Ukraine. The event was attended by 32 national and local media partners and 40 journalists from auditory, visual and printed media from Ukraine.

The Cross-Border Business Forum is an ongoing program which will expand its work in the area of target groups at the level of Central Europe and all the regions of Ukraine.

INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE WITH TOPICS DEDICATED TO “SIRET-PRUT-NISTRU EUROREGION” Event profile: The first edition took place in 2005. The 2013 edition was dedicated to the role of Euro-regions in sustainable development. Ongoing: June 21, 2013 - Iași, România Organizers: Romanian Academy, Iasi Branch Economic and Social Research Institute “Gh. Zane” of the Romanian Academy Objectives:

Assessment of the current state of economic and social development of Siret- Prut-Nistru Euroregion.

Identifying areas of research and new opportunities of collaboration and cooperation in the most important areas of life and work in the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion.

PARTNERSHIP”

Objectives:

Promoting and supporting economic competitiveness by boosting the development of

The forum has been attended by representatives of central, regional and local public

administration, embassies, private sector, business environment from Romania and

Ukraine.

Objectives:

Promoting investment and innovative programs and projects from the public

sector, oriented towards balanced and sustainable development of the

Center Development Region. Ensuring a formal and informal communication environment to establish

partnerships at inter municipal, regional and cross-border level.

Creating an exchange platform for best practices on polycentric urban development, inter municipal cooperation and diversification of the rural economy.

The forum represents an open and interactive platform for exchanging knowledge and practice in regional development to strengthen the capacity of regional actors of attracting investments and promoting innovation in Center Development Region. Also it represents an excellent opportunity to establish partnerships for cooperation at intermunicipal, regional and cross-border level. The forum was attended by 150 participants from the Central Public Administration, Local Government, development partners, regional development institutions, NGO’s, local and national media, etc.

TRADITIONAL FAIR FOR THE SAINTS PETER AND PAUL Ongoing: 13 – 14 July 2013 - Chernivtsi, Ukraine Organizers: Regional Council of Chernvtsi and City of Chernivtsi Annual traditional fair with the participation of artisans, folk artists, manufacturers and guests coming from all the neighboring countries (Russia, Poland, Lithuania and Romania).

CULTURAL MANAGEMENT – FRAMEWORK FOR MAINTAING TRADITIONAL

VALUES IN REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA – MFA - DPRPP

General objective

Training of local pillars for project management in Republic of Moldova. To this end, the

project included a training for preparing as project managers, specialists in culture,

delegated by each Council - Member of the Association "Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion". At

the same time, it aims to inform participants about the common elements of tradition,

between Romania and Republic of Moldova, based on cultural objectives from Iasi.

The training included ways of identifying funding sources, how to prepare an application

for funding, the basic elements of a project and the implementation/project

management. Training sessions were completed with the student’s assessment phase, and

awarding CNFPA accredited diplomas for project manager. The training session was held in

Iasi, between 08.26.2013 - 08.30.2013.

The results of the "Cultural Management - Framework for Preserving Traditional Values in

Moldova" project was represented by the common development of 5 projects to promote

the traditional values and elements in Republic of Moldova.

Each of the five projects developed and presented as part of the training will be

monitored by AESPN after completion of training to provide logistical support in

ACTION PLAN 2014 – FUTURE EVENTS For the short-term association aims to create a common calendar of events covering all

areas managed by local administrations. The objective of the association is that during the

year 2014, every department in every district of the Republic of Moldova to be involved at

least in a joint action with his counterparts from the right side of the Prut.

Among the major events that Euroregion "Siret-Prut-Nistru" has proposed to organize in the

next months of 2014 we are mentioning:

1. Cross-Border Economic Forum - Edition II – Balti, Republic of Moldova - 25 to 27

June 2014;

2. International Scientific Conference with topics dedicated to the "Siret-Prut-Nistru"

Euroregion - Balti, Republic of Moldova - June 27, 2014

3. Organizing a work meeting of District Presidents from Republic of Moldova from the

Euroregion "Siret-Prut-Nistru" with members of the Regions Committee (COR) in the

Seminar of the Committee for Territorial Cohesion Policy (COTER) of the

Committee of the Regions (COR) - Iasi, September 14, 2014;

4. Forum for civil society - Iasi, 10-11 October 2014.
