    Intro

    Drugs of all kinds such as street drugs, prescription drug,and legal drug are so easily assessable these days and theyhave major affects on the human body. The primary use ofmarijuana in our culture will be describe. The rates of useand population affected by using this drug will beidentified. The regions of the brain affected by this drugand how the drug alter brain chemistry will be discussed.High versus low doses of marijuana on behavior, mood, andcognition will be compared. The implications of one-time,casual, or long-term use on the physiology of the brain, and

    on behavior, mood, and cognition will be discussed. Last,the therapeutic intervention that would be used to treatmarijuana will be discussed.

    Marijuana (Primary Use)

    Marijuana is the mind-altering substance produced from a plantwith the scientific name Cannabis sativa. (National Drug IntelligenceCenter, 2003)

    The drug is used because its primary active chemical,tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), may induce relaxation and heighten

    the senses. (National Drug Intelligence Center, 2003) Users typically smoke marijuana as a cigarette, known as a joint, or

    in a pipe or bong. (National Drug Intelligence Center, 2003)

    The drug also is smoked using blunts--cigars that have beenhollowed out and refilled with marijuana, sometimes incombination with other drugs such as crack cocaine. (National DrugIntelligence Center, 2003)

    Marijuana also has been mixed with foods or brewed as a tea.(National Drug Intelligence Center, 2003)

    Conclusion

    Marijuana has been around for many years. The plantis thought to have originated in Central Asia, nearpresent-day Tibet. Evidence of marijuana's use andcultivation stretches back to 10,000 BC, represented by

    charred marijuana seeds found in a ritual brazier inRomania. It is estimated that about 4% of the world'sadults use marijuana annually and 0.6% use it daily.(Harris, 2011) Marijuana has been used for positive

    and negative. Marijuana has been described anddiscussed respectively.
