Creating an E Portfolio in Moodle
The exabis-e-Portfolio-module has the following features which can be considered relevant for ePortfolio-work:
• an individual starting page which may contain one’s curriculum vitae or similar
• a manageable category-system on two levels (main category and sub category)
• file-management within the category-system (i.e. for publication of one’s best work-efforts)
• publication of interesting links within Moodle or into the web via weblink
• self-reflection and documentation of one’s personal learning-style by using private notes (with the
option for publication within Moodle or into the web via weblink)
• commenting-functionality for published links, files and notes
• export-functionality into a SCORM-zip-format
• cross-course usage of eportfolio-module
• import of assignments from within all Moodle-courses into an individual portfolio
• import of previously from eportfolio-module exported SCORM-packages
1.Under “Blocks” click on Add…”Exabis Eportfolio.
A new block appears. Click on “My Portfolio” to begin. The portfolio opens and your first option
is to edit your personal information. The information-page can be seen as a page to put one’s personal information on,
just like a curriculum vitae or similar information.

2.Click “Edit.”
3.Type in your info and click Save Changes.
To keep one’s portfolio structured, links, files and notes have to be kept within a category-system.
4. Click on the Categories Tab to add and modify categories.
5.You can add main categories and sub categories to better
organize your eportfolio. Main-categories are created in the
left fields, sub-categories in the right fields .Type a category
name and click “New.” Click the “X” to delete a category. When
finished click “end editing.”

6. Weblinks: Participants can add links to external sites within their portfolios and publish them explicitly to
other participants of the course and even to all users within one Moodle-installation.
7. To add a link click on the “Links” tab and “add new link.”
8. Enter a Title for the link and select the category where you want it to appear.
9. Enter the URL and a short description of the link in the Content area and click “save changes.”
If you need to edit or delete a link you can use the icons to the right.
10.Files can also be added to your eportfolio. Click on the “Files” tab and “add new file.”Name the file, select the
category and browse for the file.

11.Notes are personal entries that are made by a eportfolio-user which are also categorized and may be published to
others. Click on the Notes tab and “add new note.”
Enter a title, select category and type the note. Save changes.
12.Views: You can create and manage Views to control who can view your eportfolio and what they can view. Click on
the Views tab and “add View.”

13.Enter a Title and description. You will see what items you have in your eportfolio listed on the left. Click and drag
each item you want to share over to the View Design area. You can drag a headline to organize your info or text to add
an additional text block.
14.Click on the blue arrow next to Sharing.
You have the option to share external access (users outside of our
Marywood Moodle would get a weblink) or internal access which
would allow you to share with participants that are in your courses.
You can click “access for all” which would share with everyone in all
your courses; or click “Access only for the following users” and a list
of each of your courses and all the participants will appear. Check the
boxes next to all the names you want to have access and click “add.”
15.You can also Import files that you have done for any Moodle Assignments. This would allow students to add their
papers/projects to their eportfolio. Click on the Export/Import tab and then Import Files.

16.A listing of any files you have submitted to a Moodle assignment appears. Click “add this file” to add it to your
eportfolio.
17.You can also export your eportfolio in SCORM format to use in an editor. Such editors allow the simple creation of
html-views. For users of eportfolios this is a convenient way of either using their data in other elearning-platforms or to
produce html-views with automated menu-entries and resources linked to them. This way complete resulting html-
homepages can be transferred to the web easily.
