2013 World’s Fair.

CREATE ST. LOUIS

WHAT IS IT?• Every year on June 13-july 1st 2 week event no hours

• -Rides, (Ferris wheel and other rides that relate to 1904 event)

• -Food (authentic and non- Authentic)

• -events around the grounds

• -Location = Forest park near old world’s fair pavilion

• The event would have rides that would have been at the world’s fair and authentic food.

• This event would Bring History Alive.

PRIMARY FOCUS• -- To Bring the People of St. Louis together and bring people into St. Louis and Generate

Revenue from the 2 week event.

• -- This event is vital because it will generate a lot of revenue and bring people together and possibly bring new people into St. Louis that were coming in to partake in the events

• -- This event Would Bring history alive by having authentic food to the world’s fair.

• -- Having exhibits like the ones in 1904 showing inventions of the time.

BRINGING HISTORY ALIVE • Small Tent exhibits around the grounds to show off inventions of the time.

• Some of the inventions include, X-rays, baby incubators, Electric typewriter, the telegraph, the telephone answering machine, Household and Hotel items such as coffee maker, table top stove, bread machine and dishwasher, and The automatic Gatekeeper.

• • Electricity was the star of the show. All the major buildings on the fairgrounds were lit inside and out by electric lights, and the fair’s thoroughfares were illuminated by electric lights.

• Actors dress in costumes reenacting scenes from the fair and presenting about inventions.

RIDES & FOODTO BRING HISTORY ALIVE• Some Rides are; Wheel, roller coaster, Shoot the Chutes,

• Golden Chariot, Under and over (submarine illusion),

• Magic Whirl pool, Scenic Railway (Coaster)

• Creation (boat ride) (2hrs) Hereafter (scary ride ) --Temple of Mirth (Mirror Maze)

Some foods are; Iced tea, ice cream cone, Hamburger, hot dogs, club sandwich, and Fairy floss( cotton candy)

LOCATION AND TRANSPORTATION • It will take place in forest park or, the Old Pavilion still standing from the world’s fair..

• Lighting will be from the ride and independent light sources at the fair

• You can drive, public bus, metro link , bike and take the shuttle

HOW WOULD IT BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY?• --This event would make money by General admission tickets ride tickets week pass 2

week pass unlimited passes, food

• With new Daily events each day this will bring people back.

• --All the money generated will go back to the State of Missouri

• --The Building of all the rides will generate Construction Jobs for local people

• --1.1m$ investment that will bring back double that in a few years. This will revitalize the old Site of the World’s Fair and give living Tribute to the Great St. Louis World’s Fair.

• This event would be compared to Navy Pier in Chicago.

• Completed in two years, construction of Navy Pier costs $4.5 million and brings in $7.1M every year in revenue.

HOW WILL IT BE FUNDED • --The Total investment of the event would be almost 1.133k ( $1,133,000.oo )

• -- Partnership with the History museum to give historical value to event ( funding and Grants)

• Washington University played a large role in the fair that predicted the development and mass use of electricity and the x-ray, not to mention the infant incubator, the private automobile and a number of other everyday staples of the 20th and 21st centuries.

• This would allow a possible Partnership with Washington University.

• Grants from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage

• --The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage has awarded $940,000 to eight heritage projects. Two organizations are first-time grantees of the heritage program.

• --The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage has awarded $766,325 through the Heritage Philadelphia Program (HPP) to six local organizations, including two first-time grantees.
