Special Stitches

Fpdc (front post double crochet): Yo, insert hook from front to

back to front around the post of dc indicated and draw up a lp, [yo

and pull through 2 lps on hook] twice.

Bpdc (back post double crochet): Yo, insert hook from back to

front to back around the post of dc indicated and draw up a lp, [yo

and pull through 2 lps on hook] twice.

Body: Ch 53 (65, 81, 101).

Row 1 (RS): Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across; turn

– 52 (64, 80, 100) sts

Rows 2-11 (13, 19, 25): Ch 1, sc in first sc, sc in back lp of next sc, *

sc in both lps of next sc, sc in back lp of next sc; rep from * across;

turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Row 12 (14, 20, 26): With WS facing, sk first 10 (12, 14, 18) sts and

join with sl st in next sc, ch 1, sc in both lps of same sc, sc in back lp

Tail Edging—Row 1: Ch 2, dc in next st and in each st across;

turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, sk first st, * fPdc around next dc, bPdc around next

dc; rep from * across to last st, dc in top of turning ch; turn.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2; fasten off.

Chest—Row 1: With RS facing and working in free lps of beg ch,

join with sl st in first ch, ch 2, dc in next st and in each st across;

turn – 52 (64, 80, 100) sts.

Work same as Rows 2 and 3 of Tail Edging.

Neck—Row 1: With WS facing, sk first 12 (14, 16, 20) sts and join

with sl st in next st, ch 1, sc in both lps of same st, sc in back lp of

from * across to last 12 (14, 16, 20) sts; turn, leave rem sts

Rows 2-4 (6, 12, 18): Ch 1, sc in both lps of first st, sc in back lp

of next sc, *sc in both lps of next sc, sc in back lp of next sc; rep

from * across; turn; fasten off at end of last row.

Collar: Ch 41 (49, 65, 81).

Row 1: Dc in third ch from hook and in each ch across; turn – 40

(48, 64, 80) sts.

Rows 2-4: Ch 2, sk first st, * fPdc around next st, bPdc around

next st; rep from * across to last st, dc in top of turning ch; turn;

fasten off at end of last row.

With RS facing, center collar on neck and sew together.

Sew a button on the right side of collar. Spaces between the

fpdc and bpdc can be used as a buttonhole.

Pocket (Make 2): Ch 8 (10, 14, 16).

Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across; turn.

7 (9, 13, 15) sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in both lps of first sc, sc in back lp of next sc, *sc

in both lps of next sc, sc in back lp of next sc; rep from * across

Rows 3-11 (13, 15, 17): Ch1, sc in both lps of first st, sc in back lp of

Finishing

Sew one pocket to each side of the sweater body. Sew the flap ¼"

above the pocket. Sew a button on the pocket for closure.

Sew body seam.

Weave in loose ends.
