COUNTABLE NOUNS

• We can count them:

• one/two/ three + countable nouns

• They can be singular or plural

• a car four cars

UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

• Water/ salt /air / rice / money /music

• You can’t say one/two /three + water

• They only have singular

• Rice Rices

• We can’t use “a/an” + uncountable

• A money A music

• To make uncountables countable we use partitives:

• Water

• a glass / a bottle of water

• Rice

• a bowl of rice

• Coffee

• a cup of coffee

• A/ an + singular countable

• I need a new car

• Some + plural countable (affirmative)

• I need some shoes

• Some + uncountable (affirmative)

• I need some money

• I don’t have any apples / Do you have any apples?
