ASSIGNMENT 1 : discovering pink city as a
source of influences
Tasks Summary of evidence required by students
Task 1 • the entire field trip and topics listed in the description should be documented.• a presentation with students should be done in class
Task 2 • the entire process (including research and sketches) should be documented in a scrapbook.• at least 5 different sketches should be done and the final one should be finalized in an A4 paper.• a presentation of the process should be made in a ppt file and presented in class.
PURPOSE
Contextual studies is not only about theories. Is also about knowing how to research
about different medias and applying it to its own work. By making a field trip to Pink
City and researching about the products there, the earner should start to be familiar
with this new kind of research.
SCENARIO
Being from a country with such heritage as India, the learner should be aware of how
to use such heritage in its own field of work. Going to pink City and research about it is
the starting point of recovering Indian heritage in the learner’ own work.

CLIENT PROFILE
My client is Bella Rose Roy and is from San Diego. She is married to Aham Roy, who is an Indian. Both of them are staying now in Cannes. Bella is a housewife. She wants a renovation of her drawing room , with a subtle touch of Indian culture, yet not loosing the modernity. She wants bright Indian colours and Indian motifs. She wants a wall panel to be installed in the drawing room . Her budget is approximate Rs. 20,000/-.
COMMON MOTIFS
1ST DESIGN
This wall panel will be made out of transparent glass. The motif portion will be bulging out structure made of tectured and coloured glass. Water will be flowing on the glass from behind.

2ND DESIGN
This wall panel is 3-D in structure. The background is kept elephant grey in colour (concrete structure) . The design is inspired from elephant paint motif. The petals are given a 3-D look which looks like an opening petal. The inner part of the petal will be pink and the outer part white out of ceramic glass. Hidden light fittings will be installed under the petals.

Process
Then I wanted to explore the geometric designs of elephant paintings more.
So, I tried to take the geometric motifs into consideration and convert them in to 3-dimensional, so that it gets a touch of modernity.
3rd DESIGN
This wall panel is designed by taking inspiratioin from tetrahedron. I converted the triangle into 3-D , which gives the form tetra hedron. The background is kept white in colour with the Indian coloured tetrahedron projecting out.
