This year, as every year since 1983, the bunting will be out in Little Venice near Paddington as narrowboats from all over the country come
to town for the
CANALWAY CAVALCADE FESTIVAL
Over the years CAVALCADE has become a local institution. It’s a national waterways festival – one of the biggest in the
country - but it’s a fun day out for residents too, with
entertainment for all the family regardless of age.
It combines a boaters’ gathering with a trade show and a wide range of activities, attractions and delicious food stalls -
extending from Warwick Crescent, along the towpaths of the Regent’s and Grand Union Canals, to the Paddington Stone
Wharf and Rembrandt Gardens.
CAVALCADE is held over the early May Bank Holiday, but this year, it heralds the start of a summer of special celebrations. This year’s Cavalcade theme will reflect the joyous events of
the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year. About 150 boats are likely to attend, many of whom will be en route to the historic
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the River Thames in
June.
There’s also a chance to win a canal holiday!
Everyone is welcome and a good time is guaranteed.
Admission is free
