Please remember that on Wednesday 13th June students and staff have the opportunity of wearing free dress as part of the Carnival of Venice celebrations Please refer to the parent letter sent home last week which details the arrangements for this day

STUDENT FREE DAYS FOR RELOCATION - FRIDAY 15TH AND MONDAY 18TH JUNE 2018

Please be reminded that Friday 15th June will be a student free day to allow for packing for the relocation with Monday 18th June set aside for unpacking at Warwick with the physical relocation taking place on Saturday 16th June We look forward to welcoming all the students to our new school site at Warwick on Tuesday 19th June 2018

SENSES RUGBY LAUNCHES IN PERTH

SATURDAY 16TH JUNE 2018

Founded in 2015 Australian Rugby Sevens Olympian Jesse Parahi Sense Rugby is a rugby based Occupational Therapy program designed to help kids who usually find it difficult to be part of a sports team Teaming up with Rugby WA and Calm and Connected Sense Rugby are launching in Perth with a Come and Try launch day on Saturday 16th June at RugbyWA HQ from 1000am ndash 200pm The free and fun session will be run by Australian Rugby Sevens Olympian Jesse Parahi To sign up contact Katie Barnes on 0488 990 083 or katiebarneswesternforcecomau

FIRETECH ndash BUILD CODE CREATE COURSES

2ND ndash 6TH JULY 2018

Firetech will be running Build Code and Create courses during the July school holidays between 2nd and 6th July at ECU Joondalup Campus from 1000am to 400pm Firetech courses help promote STEM and digital technology and are ideal for any child interested in this area Firetech will be coming into school to run an 8 week course in Term 3 and 4 and will undertake professional learning for staff An introduction to their programs will be provided for identified students and we will be discussing this with students in Term 3 If your child is interested in coding then the school holiday club would be a great introduction to next semester For more information please contact firetechwaeduau or call 1300 347 383

We would like to recognise acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our students on a weekly basis through the You Can Do It Program identified through the 5 keys of Persistence Getting Along Confidence Organization and Resilience

Many congratulations to the following students

Yash from AREA A Yash is to be congratulated for demonstrating his daily and weekly organizational skills He manages work placement three days a week with school two days a week To stay organised Yash regularly checks his timetable and class planner to see which activities he is at school for ndash such as community access photography the Year 13 Social Group and the Warwick transition visits Yash is also excellent at giving us friendly reminders when he wonrsquot be at an event because of his other commitments Thank you for your good planning and organisation Yash

Reece from AREA B Reece is a popular member of the class and across the Centre He enjoys socialising with his peers and interacting with the staff His smile and greetings each morning brings joy to the class He is always the first to help and care for others in need He always uses his manners and initiates and sustains conversations with staff and peers showing interest in what they have to say by actively listening and asking questions He enthusiastically contributes to class discussions and is developing his persistence at finishing more challenging tasks Well done Reece Kris from AREA C Kris has displayed confidence and shown so much excitement for our visits to Warwick Kris has also demonstrated fantastic story telling skills through the story he wrote entitled ldquoThe Green Maskrdquo Well done Kris Alex from AREA D Alex always listens to and makes sure he understands instructions before he starts his work He has been doing an excellent job of working towards the goal of improving the neatness of his handwriting Alex has also been catching public transport to and from school and this clearly showcases his independent and conscientious nature Well done Eddy from AREA E Eddy has taken a keen interest in the introduction to our Maths rotation lessons He has identified the effort his Maths teacher uses to create the ldquoMini Mathsrdquo that the students complete at the beginning of each lesson To help his teacher become more organised and reduce his workload Eddy has created an online generator that allows ldquoMini Mathsrdquo to be created at just a click of a button Well done Eddy on helping others with their organisation Eddy Byron from AREA F Byron is to be congratulated for displaying resilience and persistence by getting along well with his peers and working hard Well done Byron Keep up the great effort

Elijah from AREA G Elijah has displayed great organisational skills throughout the week He has made an effort to remember to wear his glasses each time he begins a lesson or task and to take them home at the end of each day Elijah has shown perseverance during reading task by segmenting the long words with support and then blending them independently to form complete sentences Furthermore he is to be thanked for the humour he brings into the classroom Matthew from AREA H Matthew has had a great week at school and has demonstrated the YCDI key of getting along Matthew has shown friendly behaviour towards staff and students this week and has shown some great listening skills in class Well done Matthew Nadia from AREA I Nadia has displayed confidence in following her daily TEACHH work schedule She has got started on her work straightaway and has worked through her individualized and numbered morning work folders At the completion of each folder Nadia has confidently posted the number on her completed work strip A sound achievement Keep up the great work Nadia Avi from AREA J Avi has shown persistence with his work this week and getting on with all his tasks when directed

Students will be receiving formal certificates on Monday in recognition of their amazing efforts

RELOCATION UPDATE

TRANSITION VISITS amp PARENT TOURS As you are already aware student transition visits to Warwick commenced last week with much success Further visits took place on Wednesday 6th June and today (Friday 8th June) and further visits are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday Students have had the opportunity to view some of the shared specialist facilities such as the library the woodwork and metal work rooms the canteen gym and the Performing Arts Room Students were also fortunate to be able to watch the installation of one of our transportable classrooms whilst they were on site which was extremely exciting for them

Students also had the opportunity to view the specialist equipment in one of the Home Economics Rooms which included a height adjustable work top and sink a height adjustable wall cupboard and a side opening oven to allow for wheelchair access To be equipped with all three height adjustable areas makes our school site the only one in Western Australia to have all three

Parents have also had the opportunity to visit the site and tour our new administration building our refurbished classrooms throughout the campus as well as shared specialist areas The tours on Wednesday 6th June and Friday 8th June were very positive experiences Parents also have the opportunity to register for a tour on Tuesday 12th June between 1200 ndash 200pm It is requested that the Parent Feedback Forms provided to parents on the tour be returned asap to Justine Snowdon through your childrsquos classroom teacher If you would like to join a tour next Tuesday it is essential that you book in so that we can staff the tour accordingly Please RSVP to Justine Snowdon at JustineSnowdoneducationwaeduau or call Reception on 9203 6522 The meeting point for the tour will be at the front gates to our new administration building on Lloyd Drive The address is 65 Lloyd Drive Warwick Our entrance is directly opposite the tennis courts of Greenwood Tennis Club Parking is available at the tennis club or alternatively in front of the bowling club next door

Reece from AREA B Reece is a popular member of the class and across the Centre He enjoys socialising with his peers and interacting with the staff His smile and greetings each morning brings joy to the class He is always the first to help and care for others in need He always uses his manners and initiates and sustains conversations with staff and peers showing interest in what they have to say by actively listening and asking questions He enthusiastically contributes to class discussions and is developing his persistence at finishing more challenging tasks Well done Reece Kris from AREA C Kris has displayed confidence and shown so much excitement for our visits to Warwick Kris has also demonstrated fantastic story telling skills through the story he wrote entitled ldquoThe Green Maskrdquo Well done Kris Alex from AREA D Alex always listens to and makes sure he understands instructions before he starts his work He has been doing an excellent job of working towards the goal of improving the neatness of his handwriting Alex has also been catching public transport to and from school and this clearly showcases his independent and conscientious nature Well done Eddy from AREA E Eddy has taken a keen interest in the introduction to our Maths rotation lessons He has identified the effort his Maths teacher uses to create the ldquoMini Mathsrdquo that the students complete at the beginning of each lesson To help his teacher become more organised and reduce his workload Eddy has created an online generator that allows ldquoMini Mathsrdquo to be created at just a click of a button Well done Eddy on helping others with their organisation Eddy Byron from AREA F Byron is to be congratulated for displaying resilience and persistence by getting along well with his peers and working hard Well done Byron Keep up the great effort

Elijah from AREA G Elijah has displayed great organisational skills throughout the week He has made an effort to remember to wear his glasses each time he begins a lesson or task and to take them home at the end of each day Elijah has shown perseverance during reading task by segmenting the long words with support and then blending them independently to form complete sentences Furthermore he is to be thanked for the humour he brings into the classroom Matthew from AREA H Matthew has had a great week at school and has demonstrated the YCDI key of getting along Matthew has shown friendly behaviour towards staff and students this week and has shown some great listening skills in class Well done Matthew Nadia from AREA I Nadia has displayed confidence in following her daily TEACHH work schedule She has got started on her work straightaway and has worked through her individualized and numbered morning work folders At the completion of each folder Nadia has confidently posted the number on her completed work strip A sound achievement Keep up the great work Nadia Avi from AREA J Avi has shown persistence with his work this week and getting on with all his tasks when directed

Students will be receiving formal certificates on Monday in recognition of their amazing efforts

TRANSITION VISITS amp PARENT TOURS As you are already aware student transition visits to Warwick commenced last week with much success Further visits took place on Wednesday 6th June and today (Friday 8th June) and further visits are scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday Students have had the opportunity to view some of the shared specialist facilities such as the library the woodwork and metal work rooms the canteen gym and the Performing Arts Room Students were also fortunate to be able to watch the installation of one of our transportable classrooms whilst they were on site which was extremely exciting for them

Students also had the opportunity to view the specialist equipment in one of the Home Economics Rooms which included a height adjustable work top and sink a height adjustable wall cupboard and a side opening oven to allow for wheelchair access To be equipped with all three height adjustable areas makes our school site the only one in Western Australia to have all three
