Deenbandhu Schools
No. 24 Jan. 2013
Christmas Celebrations in the DBSIn Delhi, Christmas celebrations which begin
in the Advent continue till Epiphany. We too at
DBS had our rounds of celebrations. On 22nd
December the entire DBS staff gathered at the
Brotherhood House lawns for celebrations.
Each department had prepared a cultural item
to present. They presented songs, dances and
skits. At the end the Brethren sang "Joy to
World". There was a meal for all to share.

Tea and Carols29th December is well in Delhi known among
those who love singing carols. It is the annual
‘Brotherhood Tea and Carols’ evening.
Invitations were sent to more than 300 friends
in and around Delhi. As usual there was a
fellowship tea with ‘pakora’ or deep fried
dumplings of spinach, cauliflower, green
chillies and potatoes with sauce, chocolate cakes and hot
tea at 6 pm. The next hour was dedicated to sing carols.
This year Fr Monodeep conducted the singing. The carols
were both in English and Hindi, mostly traditional. Fr Ian
Weathrall did the closing prayers dedicating the evening
to ‘Nirbhaya’, the victim of gang rape who died and all
those women who have suffered.
Amarjyoti ColonyThis was the second Christmas which the
people of Amarjyoti Leprosy Colony celebrated
after their church was re-opened. The Christmas
day Service was conducted by Fr Monodeep
and the boys of our Home sang enthusiastically
the Christmas carols in Hindi. After the Service
there was a distribution of Christmas present:
a sari to each woman and a dhoti to each man.
The boys played a wee cricket match in the
premises and then we all sat to share the midday
meal of tasty chicken curry and boiled rice.
Distribution of BlanketsWarm blankets were distributed to the elderly and those
affected by leprosy for the winter season. We are grateful
to the 'Church's Auxiliary for Social Action' and 'The
Prayer Tower' for supplying us the needed number of
blankets in time for Amarjyoti, Night Shelter and Elderly.
