Quality manual

The quality manual contains the main documents of the quality system, e.g. the quality policy and the organization of Fjölás ehf. As well as procedures connected to the operation of the quality system, e.g. internal review and complaints.

Handbook 1 : Design Determination of the design process on all levels, ranging from preparation to final design.

Handbook 2 : Software development Processes for software development, documentation

Handbook 3 : Project management Handbook for the project manager on issues like the making of offers and contracts, staffing, cost checking and task division and completion.

Structuring the quality plan A quality plan is made for the project, which is based on the system of Fjölás. The quality plan will be made by Fjölás in consultation with the client.

The following text presents the main part of the quality plan.

Project supervision:

− Organizational chart An organizational chart will defined for the project as well as job description and level of responsibility.

− Communication Definition of procedures of communication within a project group as with the client. A plan is made for meetings and other consultation, the distribution of documents and their filing.

− Time and cost estimation A detailed time and cost estimation / plans for the project are made including a strategic plan to accomplish the estimation / plan, both for the client and consulter.

− Project review The state, cost and progress of the project is regularly checked and reviewed. Determination of reactions to cost deviation is defined.

Professional quality:

− Quality level In the beginning of the project the consultant identifies the quality level of the project and presents it to the client for consent. A plan is made for drawings, reports and other documents that will be presented by the consultant.

− Work processes Work-procedures define the work processes for projects within institutions and co-working parties. In the working plan procedures become adapted to this project.

In the procedures clear instructions are given about how review projects in order to accomplish and secure professional quality and solutions in accordance with the given terms.

− Project review With good prior notice, which is about 2 weeks before the start of each working part, review meetings take place with the designers and the contractor. Here, the working parts are reviewed systematically. The goals are both, to ensure a better common consent at how to manage each working part and to ensure the availability of all necessary data, material and labor force.

− Plans of supervision If requested the supplied tender document will include a plan on the contractor’s internal supervision client’s representative. The plan covers all factors that have to be monitories, including methods and the frequencies required.
