Children just love to meet a creature!

Would your child enjoy greeting a gecko, stroking a snake or touching a tortoise? Then MeetaCreature’s hands-on animal demonstrations for events and children’s parties could be just what you need.

The company tailors its demonstration to the age and preferences of customers, who can also choose which creatures they would like it to include.

MeetaCreature specialises in reptiles including a leopard tortoise, geckos, snakes, a tree frog and a very friendly bearded dragon. But the choice of creatures also includes a pair of beautiful dwarf Winter White hamsters which just love to be petted - and some creepier characters including giant African millipedes and hissing cockroaches which are proving popular at boys’ parties!

Ranger Dean Roots has an enhanced CRB check and full public liability insurance, and can also provide risk assessments. A party demonstration costs £95; curriculum-based school workshops and bespoke presentations can also be arranged. For details telephone Dean on 07903 366585 or email: [email protected] or you can make contact through the website at www.meetacreature.co.uk .

Why not let MeetaCreature entertain the guests with a hands-on animal demonstration?

They can get to know a gecko,

touch a tree frog… or hold a hissing

cockroach – the choice is yours!

I s there anybody there…..? A look at Simon Goodfellow

with Dave Harper

Our need for proof that our friends and loved ones have survived physical death, and are safe and well on the other side, has never been greater than it is today. Even some battle hardened sceptics are seeking the reas-surance they once would have scoffed at.

How fortunate we are then, that we are sent people like Simon Goodfellow, who strive to bring us the evidence and comfort we seek in a way that is meaningful to each of us. With-out such people, our upsurge in belief could begin to dip again and that would be an im-measurable loss. That is why, of course, the Simon Goodfellows of the world are provid-ed in the first place - thank goodness.

Simon's attitude towards his abilities is re-markably humble, given that he has the ulti-mate gift. According to Simon, "Mediums are just ordinary people who usually have fami-lies and everyday jobs. A Medium is just a link between this world and the spirit world and everybody alive has Mediumistic capabilities of some kind, it's just a case of whether you wish to use and develop them." The paradox is this: for all his 'ordinariness' he really is anything but!

It is true that, born and bred in Yorkshire, Simon is about as down to earth as you can get. He has no delusions of grandeur, there are no displays of ego, there is no sense of superiority. He’s just Simon. However, he has that beautiful gift of instantly putting you at your ease. He is one to those people who, within minutes of talking to him, you feel as though you have known him a life time. There is the sense that he would give you all the time in the world if that was what you needed and then there is the ready laughter and a sense of humour that just barely stops itself from bubbling over and which makes its way naturally into his work. Simon is the first person to point out that people do not change once they have moved to the other side of life. In his words, "If Uncle Jack was a joker in life, Uncle Jack will still be the same when working through a Medium. The per-sonality does not change when they pass over" The beauty of Simon's approach is to connect to the personality, sense of humour and quirks of a loved one's character and this is one of the most comforting things when he brings a message to someone. For all who have lost a loved one, it is these very things that we miss the most and which we yearn to re-experience. It’s one of the greatest proofs a Medium can bring and Simon brings it in abundance.

TO ADVERTISE TELEPHONE 01302 744278 BAWTRY TODAY | 15

Added to this is the unique sensitivity with which Simon treats both the people who seek his help and guidance and those he contacts on the other side of life. During demonstrations, he will go directly to the person for whom he has a message, be they in the front row or the back of the hall, and he will talk personally with them and their loved one. It is a particularly lovely way of working because it creates an intimacy that would otherwise be lacking if he were to remain at the front while speaking to someone at the far side of the room. It is this special personalisation, together with his uncanny accuracy, that has earned him the respect of sceptics and believers alike both in the UK and abroad.

It is when you ask Simon to talk about his work that his passion really emanates from him. he is acutely aware of the burden of responsibility that accompanies his gifts, yet he takes this in this stride and determines to fulfil his purpose with genuine modesty, and you can just feel that he loves what he does and enjoys the journey - wherever it takes him. " Having the abil-ity to link loved ones and friends who have crossed over to Spirit and to give so many people closure and direction in their lives is, for me, one of the greatest joys I could experience” Simon explains . Simon's knowledge and understanding of Mediumship is vast. it is not just knowing what to do that makes a remarkable Medium, it is also knowing what not to do and this is something he has mastered graciously. It is one of the many attributes that make him one of the most sort after and respected Mediums of today.

It comes as no surprise that public demand for Simon's demonstrations and evenings with.... is rapidly escalating or that he is undertaking a Tour in 2011 to reach those who would other-wise be unable to reach him for sheer lack of days in the year.

For those of you who are currently sceptical, I would encourage you to put your faith in Si-mon's ability. I feel you will not remain sceptical for long. For those of you who already be-lieve but perhaps need affirmation, clarity, closure or a clear connection, you are assured of a sensitive and honest response.

You can find details of all Simon's Tour Dates, Demonstrations and Evenings on his website www.simongoodfellow.com He will be at the Park Inn, Doncaster on Thursday 10th March

O STEOPATHY IN BAWTRY – STILL IN GOOD HANDS

Osteopath Victoria Watts joined the Bawtry Clinic to help Osteopath Victor Henighan meet continued demand.

Victoria graduated from the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) where she gained her BSc. (Hons). Ost degree in Osteopathy in 2007. Prior to this Victoria spent time traveling around the Far East and Nepal before embarking on the 4 year full-time course for a degree in Osteopathy.

After graduating, Victoria worked in Peterborough and Waddington. During this time, she has developed a great deal of experience with babies and children. This built upon the training re-ceived at the ESO children’s clinic.

Victoria now practices at the Bawtry clinic on Tuesdays and Fridays. She has a keen interest in sports injuries but enjoys treating a variety of patients from babies to the elderly. Victoria is in-terested in keeping fit by competing in triathlons, cycling, swimming and skiing.

Victoria says, “I was drawn to the Bawtry Clinic because of the friendli-ness and warm welcome on visiting the Clinic and meeting the team.” “This clinic has invested a lot in technology and training to aid both treatment and diagnosis.” “I also feel that the wide range of comple-mentary therapies offered here allows greater opportunity for patients to recover from a wide variety of different problems.”

Victor opened the Osteopathic part of the clinic in 2001. Victor was glad to appoint an additional Osteopath. “I was impressed when I met Victo-ria as I think that she fits in very well with the ethos of clinic.” “Victoria shares our aim to provide people with exceptional care, prompt relief from their problems and referral where appropriate.”

The clinic is open for Osteopathic treatment on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Call (01302) 719917 for more details.

M ayflower Animal Sanctuary, Narrow Lane, Bawtry Nr Doncaster.

Thank goodness the weather seems to be turning a little warmer and it really makes you feel spring is around the corner.

Our puppy block has been well occupied since the Christmas period with 3 sets of puppies born within weeks of one another. One litter is ready for their new home but the other 2 litters are still quite young.

Amongst others we, have taken in 3 abandoned Staffordshire bull terriers over the Christmas period all of which were found tied up and left. We are finding this a major problem at the moment, as the economic climate worsens we are finding more dogs needing new homes.

We also have lots of kittens that need re homing which is surprising at this time of the year, as the influx is usually at its worst in the spring.

We are also taking a deep breath regarding our financial year end. Our donations are down and all charities are struggling somewhat. Not at least ours

On a brighter note look up our 2 star dogs, Bella and Doug on Face book, you can see how there new life is changing every day.

We would like to thank everyone for taking their unwanted clothes to the Sanctuary for recy-cling. This is on on going project so any unwanted clothes please drop off at the Sanctuary.

If anyone would like to get involved in fund raising it would be wonderful please let us know. Or if you have any ideas you would like to put into place to raise money for this very worth while charity call us.

We still require volunteers for our Charity shop in Manton, so if anyone has the odd day to spare again please let us know.

Don’t forget our Charity Summer Ball 11th June held at Ye Olde Bell Barnby Moor Nr Retford. Please let us know in good time should you require tickets which are £40 per person. Tables are being reserved now.

D oncaster Sheffield Airport gets its first flight to Madeira

The Largest Independent Specialist Tour Operator to the Portuguese Island of Madeira is to operate a flight this Summer direct from Doncaster Sheffield Air-port for the first time.

The one-off departure on 15th August 2011, will give travelers in South Yorkshire the chance to sample the delights of Madeira, renowned for giving visitors a unique and unforgettable holiday experience.

The archipelago of Madeira is located about 350 miles from the northwest coast of Africa and 520 miles southwest of Portugal itself. It is of volcanic origin but unlike the other islands in the group which are barren, Madeira is lush and verdant, boasting an exceptionally tem-perate climate and rich agricultural resources.

The many historical monuments, squares and streets in the capital of Funchal and the en-chanting gardens, picturesque villages, amazing landscapes, impressive volcanic caves, rug-ged coast lines and beautiful natural beaches make Madeira well worth a visit.

Nick Smillie, Sales Director for Peel Airports said: “We are sure that lots of passengers from across South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire will want to take advantage of this oppor-tunity to travel directly from Doncaster to Madeira . We expect this flight to prove popular and hope that it will encourage Atlantic Airways to operate even more services from here next year.

“Madeira is a beautiful island with botanical gardens and a wealth of high quality hotels.”

Dino Toouli Sales & Marketing Manager at Atlantic Holidays said “We are delighted to add Doncaster Sheffield Airport to our portfolio and we are confident that Madeira will prove extremely popular to those living in the catchment area. We will exclusively be re posi-tioning a Monarch Airlines A320 aircraft to operate this flight solely for Atlantic Holidays”

Holidays can be booked with Atlantic Holidays on 01452 381 888, via their web site at www.atlanticholidays.net/dsa or through a local travel agent.

We have a busy month with walks from Linacre Reservoir 10½miles (Mar 6th), East Drayton 6½miles (13th), Ruskington 7 miles (20th) and Market Rasen 10 miles (27th).

T ickhill & District Lions

It only seems like yesterday when we were updating you all on our Christmas activities and Easter eggs are already in the shops! This in-

cludes 40 giant chocolate Easter eggs which we at Tickhill & District Lions will be raffling off to raise money for good causes within our community and beyond. Shops and businesses all over the district are selling tickets and dis-playing the eggs, which are each more than a foot tall and contain about a kilogram (or 2.2 lbs) of delicious milk chocolate. So if you keep your eyes open you can’t miss them, and for just the price of a raffle ticket one could be all yours (although there really would be enough to share).

Also a reminder that on the evening of Wednesday April 6th, Tickhill & District Lions will be holding a fundraising Sportsmen’s din-ner at Doncaster Golf Club where the line-up includes two top comedians. Kevin Connelly is a star of the BBC TV and radio series, Dead Ringers and has recorded numerous voiceo-vers for both television and radio, including being part of Talk Radio's World Cup team. Joining Kevin will be twice Variety Club “Comedian of the Year”, Martin Gold and the evening will be hosted by Master of Ceremo-nies, Malcolm Lord.

Tickets are on sale at £32.50 a head for dinner and entertainment. To book your place please contact The Lions on 01302 743760 or 750050.

Bawtry Town Council NEWSLETTER March 2011

www.bawtrytowncouncil.co.uk

CLOSURE OF BAWTRY LIBRARY

Mayor Davies and the Cabinet have now taken the decision to approve the closure of 14 li-braries in the borough one of which is our library at Bawtry.

Bawtry Town Council is initiating discussions with DMBC to find out where we can go from here. We do not wish to see the library close and intend to explore all possible avenues to determine the best way forward.

At the public meeting held in Bawtry, it was noted that Mayor Davies, before he stormed out of the meeting, said Doncaster wished to join with local communities whose library were faced with closure to ensure a new type of library service. He also said that it was not Doncas-ter's intention to sell any Library building "in the foreseeable future".

Bawtry Town Council will be opening discussions with Julie Grant, Assistant Director of Cus-tomer Strategy and Development, on 17th February. The results of these initial deliberations will be in the next newsletter.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL, STATION ROAD

Following a meeting held at the Mayflower school, Doncaster agreed to repeat the survey of people crossing Station Road when the results they put forward of an earlier survey were challenged. The new survey will be on an undisclosed day in March. It is hoped that the new data will support the reintroduction of a crossing patrol.

PUBLIC TOILETS, GAINSBOROUGH ROAD

Work has now been completed to repair the roof of the disabled toilet and Bawtry Council now has the keys to the buildings. It is hoped internal refurbishment will begin soon and that it will not be long before the toilets reopen to the public.

AFTER THE SNOW…………. Bawtry Town Council has taken delivery of a mini motorised sweeper. This handy piece of kit has a snow plough attachment which we hope we won't need to use until next winter! S culpture Exhibition at Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery IT’S ALL IN THE MIND – Hilary Cartmel 19 March to 17 May 2011

The Sculptor Hilary Cartmel who lives and works in Styrrup is hav-ing a solo exhibition of her sculpture in Doncaster’s Art Gallery. This will comprise of new work made over the past 18 months. It brings together a series of dreaming heads with their minds’ im-aginations made solid, and explores notions of declining faculties and physical failure which confront us all as we age. The sculp-tures are made in stainless steel and steel with other materials, cast bronze, cast glass, glass mosaic, wood. Hilary won first prize in Doncaster Museum and Art Gallery’s 2009 Open Art exhibition.

Hilary Cartmel makes large scale artwork for public sites. She has completed over 60 projects from London to Edinburgh in both rural and urban settings. Her clients are private individuals, large and small organisations, local authorities, NHS and PLCs and community organisations. You may be familiar with the screens that line the runways in the bus station in Rotherham, the gates at the competitors entrance at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, the figure of Carmen which stands outside the Theatre Royal in Nottingham, The Stainless steel and glass Tree in the Gardens at Rufford Country Park or the large pair of hands at the entrance to the NHS treatment centre at University Hospital Nottingham.

In order to take time out of public commission work to make the work for this exhibition she was awarded a substantial grant from Arts Council England.
