A physical-mathematical model has been developed to assess the performance of the façade taking into account the totality of variables involved in the heat transference process through the envelope

In order to control the incident solar radiation a sunshade, consisting of an extension of 1,80m of the concrete structure for each plant, has been placed along the façade

The generated space is used as an evacuation emergency platform

The sunshade comprises security laminated glass elements 8+8 with reflectant polyvinyl butyral

PERFORMANCE

On Winter the solar radiation is only allowed to incide on the platform components, avoiding direct incidence into the indoor space. During Summer sunbeams are reflected to prevent the indoor space overheat

Results

The air flows through the façade at a variable speed between 0.2m/s and 0.5m/sConsidering the air flow and the temperature rise, the façade supports 30kW per day, an equivalent to 12.5kw/m of active façade

In a housing with an energy performance A, it represents 3% of the HVAC energy consumption
