Project 1: Information Literacy

• Review resources in evaluating and using information from the internet.

• In your reading group, devise a set of strategies or guidelines that you can use to help your students develop their information literacy skills.

• Create a visual representation – a model – of your strategies that can be posted on the information literacy wall in our OpenQwaq forum.

• Due: June 14 (on wall in OpenQwaq and submit to AsULearn)

Project 2: Media Literacy

• View video documentary “Consuming Kids”, linked within AsULearn.

• As an individual, posts a detailed reflection of your thoughts and reactions on the discussion forum in AsULearn, during the week that the discussion is due.

• Topic questions available: Week of June 21 to 28

Project 3. Visual Literacy

• As an individual, consider a unit/lesson that you currently teach that may be especially ‘tricky’ for students. Find or create an appropriate visual to help demonstrate concepts, processes, etc.• This could be a flow chart, mind map, graphic,

photograph, diagram, video, etc. • Submit the visual along with a description of how you

think this may strengthen your students’ learning

• Due: July 12 (on wall in OpenQwaq and submit to AsULearn)

Project 4: Multicultural Literacy

• As an individual or in a group of your choosing, review educational resources and curriculum materials on multicultural education and global learning.

• Identify collaborative global projects that would meet the standards and needs of your classroom and schools..

• Design curriculum and create opportunities to interact with individuals from other cultures. Describe and include example materials and resources in your presentation.

• Due: July 30 (post in OpenQwaq, submit to AsUlearn, and present in class that day)
