It’s not easy being green. That’s the theme of this year’s Moondance Gala, reminding our guests of both the whimsy of children play-ing on the Esplanade and the serious work it takes to keep our park flourishing. This magical evening will host over 400 of Boston’s leaders in business, politics, and philanthropy to come together to socialize, celebrate, and support our public park. Co-chaired by Alexi & Steven Conine and Jill & Niraj Shah, this year’s Gala will raise funds to support critical work to revitalize and enhance the historic Charles River Esplanade ensuring it remains beautiful and healthy for generations to come. As one of the most spectacular evenings of the fall social season, the Moondance Gala is the only tented black tie event held on the Esplanade. Set against the incomparable backdrop of the Charles River at sunset, guests will sip on signature cocktails, dine on an elegant seasonal dinner, and then continue the celebration late into the night with music and dancing under the stars.
Moondance After Dark
9:00pm – Midnight
At 9:00p the event opens up for Moondance After Dark, which invites over 250 of Boston’s young professionals and emerging influ-encers to experience the Gala after-party. Hosted by the Esplanade Friends Council, guests enjoy cocktails, late night bites, dessert, and dancing alongside the twilight riverfront.
About the Esplanade Association
The Esplanade Association is a 100% privately-funded nonprofit organization that works to revitalize and enhance the Charles River Esplanade, preserve its natural green space, and build community in the park by providing educational, cultural and recreational programs for everyone.

What is a private Hatch Shell Dinner?
Hosting a private dinner on the stage of the DCR Memorial Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade is truly a one-of-a-kind even-ing. Up to 20 guests will enjoy cocktails, dinner, and dancing on this iconic stage. Dinner includes full open bar with beer, wine, specialty cocktail, passed hors d’oeuvres, appetizer, entrée, and desserts catered by MAX Ultimate. Décor, flowers, menu, and mu-sic to be determined by the host at a later date. Estimated cost covered by the Esplanade Association is $6,500.00.
What is the reserved seating ticket to the Boston Pops Rehearsal Concert?
Every year the Department of Conservation and Recreation gives the Esplanade Association reserved seating for the spectacular Boston Pops July 3 Rehearsal Concert .Tickets are subject to availability, which will not be confirmed until June 2019. Guests re-ceive reserved wrist bands and will be subject to the same security procedures as the general public. Information and wrist bands would be distributed in late June. Additional performers announced at a later date.
Does my sponsorship/ticket to the Moondance Gala include tickets to the Moondance After Dark?
Yes, the designated number of tickets given to you as a Gala sponsor include admission to the after-party portion of the Moondance Gala, Moondance After Dark. After the seated dinner, guests return to the cocktail tent to continue the celebration late into the night with music and dancing under the stars. For sponsors at the Visionary, Champion, and Benefactor levels, you will receive addi-tional tickets for Moondance After Dark to share with friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues.
Can I substitute my sponsorship benefits?
Generally we do not allow the substitution of benefits for the Moondance Gala. However, the first priority of our co-chairs and staff is to ensure our guests an unparalleled evening in the park. Is my sponsorship tax-deductible?
Yes, the majority of your sponsorship is tax-deductible. After payment is received, you will receive an official letter from the Espla-nade Association stating the deductible amount.
PLEASE NOTE: The IRS prohibits the use of donor advised funds to pay for the cost of the event attendance. Sponsors purchasing tables must use personal funds to cover the attendance price per guest (Estimated for 2018 at $175). The remaining contribution portion of the table price may be paid with donor advised funds. Sponsors wishing to use funds from family/personal foundations towards attendance price per guest must provide written confirmation stating that their foundation allows funds to be used for
